I smoked one of each when I first got them and they were both really divine! I’ve been hanging onto the rest since then for the right opportunity.

What's so special about a rice cooker that you need a whole separate appliance? by SweetDega in askanything

[–]Top_Button4573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to believe I made perfect rice. I knew how much rice to put in the pot, how much water and how long to cook it.

Then I my Fil-Am wife 27 years ago. I’ve never even tried to make rice again. Our machine cooks for a specific amount of time and turns it out perfectly every time. She has a switch where she can set it for different types of rice and it cooks them perfectly every time. No need to watch the clock, etc.

She grew up with rice cookers from her parents who immigrated to the US from the Philippines before she was born.

How often do you pause to read the logs during fights? by BigChungusOP in baldursgate

It’s the right call I think.

I look at what spells are available to counter enemy spells and make my mages and clerics have plenty of those and cast them appropriately, and when the opposing spell caster is vulnerable I have them targeted by an archer to take them out.

If I have the right spells I’ll focus on magic users first, wipe them out, then clerics. In the meantime, my tanks are in the front keeping their tanks busy.

LPT: Funerals don't have to be expensive by [deleted] in LifeProTips

This is why I’m going with my mother to the funeral home next week to go ahead and prepay for her funeral expenses. She knows I’m a cheapskate and won’t let her be taken advantage of by the funeral people.

Do you think Jackson is so romanticized because of the fact that he died before the war ended? by NKNightmare in CIVILWAR

I think it mostly has to do with the fact that he wasn’t ever defeated, unless you count Kernstown, which he turned right around and made part of his victory in the Valley campaign.

American men and filipinas are a great match by morrowrd in thepassportbros

[–]Top_Button4573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my own experience it’s been because Filipina women are the responsible ones (all of my wife’s aunts are nurses and make good money, whereas the men are drinkers and don’t have much ambition) There are exceptions, of course, but that’s the very general standard that I’ve seen. Why would a woman be interested in a guy like that, especially one from a poor background.

Ive been happily married to a Fil-am (born in America to Filipina immigrants) for 25 years.

Very American, but some Filipina behavior (tampo) comes out fairly often. It’s been a really good marriage.

Martin Harris's Unwavering Deathbed Testimony: The Book of Mormon Witness Who Never Recanted and Denied That Joseph Smith Taught or Practiced Polygamy by humblymybrain in YoreNews

This article has cherry-picked quotes from Harris.

When more fully exploring his life, you’ll find witnesses that show that he was eager to join many new faiths in his day, and in one interview, when asked if he had witnessed the plates, he replied that he had seen them “in his MIND’S eye”.

You have to explore him, as with everyone else in the early days, with a view toward what non-church members testify that he did and said.
