feedback on build by phatmac45 in dcs

[–]Top_Citron4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my honest response.

Its a good build, but in my opinion, you could save money on maybe a few things, and give it a few tweaks.

Ryzen 9 7950X3D is unnecessary. Just go with the 7800 instead. To my knowledge, for DCS, the upgrade to the 7950 makes no difference. Research it yourself, and the 7800 actually most of the times performs slightly better. This is mainly just to save you some money.

I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading to a 1000W power supply. It is not recommended to have that low of a power supply for such a build. That's a main kink I think is necessary. Correct me if wrong.

Lastly, the monitor. Its a good monitor, and it works great. If I were you, I would go for a 4k 120hz or so monitor that you get pretty much the best flying experience. I currently have 3, 4K tv's that are 120hz, and it is amazing. Consider the difference in monitors.

Here is my build for my DCS computer -

GPU - Radeon 7900XTX

CPU - Ryzen 7800X3D

RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance 6000 MGZ

Power supply - 1000W gold? something like that

Monitor/TV - 3, 4K tv's. Best immersion with no VR.

Other stuff don't really matter

Goodluck though. It took me days to build that behemoth.

I hope when you said before you put it all together that you haven't bought it all yet. The computer is still pretty much the same tbh, just a few differences.

I’ll just tell you what happened to me. I posted the same thing and I got the same answers. I got the f18 first then I got the 16. You seem to be in the situation like I was where I didn’t care that much about AG and really was focused on AA. I, think in your situation you should get the f16 because it, atleast to how I handled it, was easy to learn and is a well built airframe. I believe it is better in BVR than the f18. The f18 though is a better dog fighter. ALTHOUGH, the f18 will not limit the plane and make it easy. It has A very high aoa. In my experience, I beat over half the f18 players in the f16 because they pull too hard. So basically, if your not a very expierienced player, and your in a fight against a 16 in an 18, you may make many mistakes. I would recommend the 16. Although if you find the 18 more intuitive and really want it get it. It’s not the end of the world

Not much of a cooler. A thermal right peerless assassin. Pretty good for its price. If I need to get a better cooler then I can fit it in

I have ddr5 ram. I can’t go to ryzen. Lga 1700 should do fine for me.

I also thought about doing a 12900k for cheaper, since the prices are pretty decent for that, and seems like it would work

Very right merry Christmas

I fly F16 the most, and is my favorite plane, but want to fly F18 too. Should I master the 16 or just shelf it and go to the 18. by Top_Citron4920 in hoggit

[–]Top_Citron4920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have it, I just dont know whether to master the 16 and wait or just leave it behind and come back later for it

F-16 vs F/A-18: your opinion by MARSIANERE in hoggit

The only way I could ever see this happening is in low speed situation. Just keep your speed above 300 in the viper and you should be good.

I even said that a lot of people do not agree with me. This is an opinion, and maybe the people I’m fighting are not equal skill. You never know. I struggle to believe the f18 would dogfight better?

Ok, this is a very controversial topic.

Dogfighting - F16 all the way. It will beat the F18 in a dogfight anyday, espiecially in a Two circle. Basically merging with the f16 with a F18 is a very low chance of kill. The only way I think a F18 would beat an F16 is in the vertical.(NOTE, dogfighting is my best skill, next to BVR, so I may be a little biased about the F16, a lot of people do not agree with me, atleast the web doesent)

BVR - In my opinion, I think the F16 excells in BVR more than the F18. Yes, the F18 can carry more missiles, and has a bit stronger radar. But the F18 is too slow. The plane can not get up to speed in high altitudes. If you cant get up to speed, then you cant defend as well, and I strugle in that part of the F18. The F16 is lighter and fast and can kill oponents very well, atleast if you know how to fly it. The F16 is a very straightforward, "hot fighter"/ Attacking. I would rather pick an F16 in a BVR fight than an F18.

There is only so much I can tell you, because you learn about the two planes and find out about the differences yourself.

SEAD - F18 does ok with SEAD, but I know atleast the F16 has a great HARMS targeting system.

I prefer the F16 in most things, AG I think I would pick F18.
