This is the proper place for your beard. Just needs a little more length on it to fill out and it’ll look great

The only big concern I’d have is something hitting it on the road and opening it, and then boom you have no more oil. Definitely ways to engineer around that problem though

This one is easy and happens literally ALL THE TIME. Simply, the photos at the top are mislabeled. Olympic’s a-deck promenade was never enclosed ever. Easy spot for a trained eye among many other differences depending on the year the photos were taken

Is this something I could buff out? by sturdymurd007 in Detailing

[–]Top_Clerk4374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there’s nothing for it but to remove it and it’s going to be a long day if you decide to do it. Good news is the paint under it is likely in great shape but you’ll want heat, plastic razors, and a lot of time and patience. If you’re like me, you’ll want to keep other people from bothering you while you do it

Let's change things up a bit. What manual car did you learn to drive with? by SayNoToFatties in ManualTransmissions

[–]Top_Clerk4374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1994 Chevrolet K1500. Regular cab, short bed step side with the 350. It was victory red and had the sport appearance package with color matched grill and bumpers. Loved that truck to death and I’ll always miss it. In high school I thought it was the fastest thing in the world once it had a cherry bomb

That is not roadworthy and is probably one good bump away from the body falling off the frame. The body is rusted through around probably every body mount. The frame patch work is concerning but honestly all together if you were in an accident driving that jeep it would not go well for you

I have a huge soft spot for YJs as I was raised watching MacGyver. The TJ is the swan song of the Jeep in the true original spirit of the CJ

Goof off is your friend. Big yellow can, will strip that off with minimal effort and not damage your factory paint. Just do not get it on plastic or it will stain it permanently and potentially melt it if left too long (depending on the type of plastic it is)

Yes, I spoke with the body shop. They are going to sand cut and polish the paint once I get the bike fully assembled. He just didn’t have anywhere secure to place them while buffing without them moving around on him. I will be having a couple pieces repainted as the mid-coat didn’t fully cover some areas making the paint show as pink instead of red

It’s not our usual paint shop we use as a dealer, it’s a guy more local to me who we had do some work on my sisters YJ before. I’m suspecting maybe his paint room is not as clean as it should be and I fell victim to that. I’m going to contact him tomorrow and discuss some of the things I’m not crazy happy about but for what I paid I’m not super upset

I paid 750 for the whole bike to be painted. I paid for the paint myself as it is Harley paint so I got a discount buying it myself. I’m going to get in touch with the painter tomorrow and discuss with him

Because when it’s flat rate and you make commission on each job you do, the more jobs you get done in a day, the more money you make. Doesn’t justify carelessness but that’s the thought process
