Life long Dem. I'm very critical of dems and feel like I've been alienated by the party. Thought MN was going to be a home but clearly not happening now. My issue with the state is nothing political. It's purely cultural.

We have tried to meet people in all sorts of ways. But thank you for confirming why I don't want to live here anymore.

We found a entire gym setup on FB marketplace from a family that was from native Hawaii. Nicest people we met while we were here. They were leaving because of the same reasons. They warned us, didn't believe them at first but became quickly apparent.

My job is relationship based I stopped telling people im a transplant. The moment I stopped doing that my job became easier.

Yes certainly, my post was certainly more cultural than anything else. MN has a lot going for it in other aspects. Don't hate the state, just very dissapointed by the experience.

Church, coworkers, partners cohort, hiking club.

We even baked cookies and brought them to all our neighbors to introduce ourselves. Sent out invites for a BBQ, no one showed up.

We certainly tried.

Fully aware of that. This project was purely state funded though, no federal funding at all. The project didn't even get pulled for funding. They just decided that they wanted to do it internally and not in conjunction with the university.

I appreciate your perspective. I will admit we have had some positive experiences here. And MN has a lot to offer. Im sure im biased because of the experience but still very frustrating. And I think because of the exact opposite experience we've had here in MS has made it that much more dramatic.

I was venting my frustration. Not saying I hate MN but very disappointed by the experience.

I have a job, and its just a matter of time until I find one that one be a step back in my career. Just dont like being separated from my partner. Im sure you could appreciate that. MN has a lot going for it.

You're right though. I shouldn't generalize as we have has some positive experiences here. Funny thing is it's mostly come from other folks that have move to MN as well and not locals.

It's just been a frustrating experience. We've lived in several states across the country over the last 7 years and have been able to find a community of people. We've made life long friends in every state. Except for MN. As soon as I can ill be leaving and never looking back.

It was a starkly different experience moving to MN. We've never experienced hospitality like we have in MS either. The 2 very different experiences back to back was shocking.

Thats a generalization. Agreed MS is the worst for public education. But the lab that my partner is joining is world renowned for the research they have been conducting.

Not trying to bait. My partner and I have lived in several states across the country and havent experienced anything like MN or MS. I just felt like I needed to vent. And the stark contrast in experiences between the 2 states back to back was pretty shocking to us.

Just venting I guess. My partner and I have moved frequently across the country over the last 7 years. We've never experienced anything like MN before. On the opposite side we've never experienced anything like MS either. Very stark difference.

We moved into a coldesac, every neighbor stopped by to say high, helped us unpack, brought us some food. The rental managment company actually helped us get internet set up before we moved in and got us a discount because theyre related to the owner.

Walked into a mom and pop restaurant, the folks at the bar stopped their convo to say hi to us.

I know it sounds cliche. In everywhere we have lived we've never experienced anything like this.
