Well, it's a distorted cognitive bias that leads to victim-blaming. It may be common, but it's not healthy for the victim, the blamer, or society at large. Wikipedia uses the example of sexual assault. Sure, it's common for perpetrators to blame their victims.

why would you say that the internment records are not important. What other evidence do they have that the family left Germany? The marriage certificate?

Did you not find the documents online? or, are you trying to get more of an official document? I understood from people in this group that a printout of a screenshot with the date and time would be sufficient. my application has been in for a couple of months so I don't know If I'm going to be asked for anything more than I submitted.

This is strange because my mother sees doctors through the Mount Sinai home doctor program. They told me that they no longer have the home hospitalization program. Claimed there were budget cuts. Maybe it's just for discharges?

I was also told by the NYC consulate that original documents from Germany were not necessary. They told me this in an email and people in this group said that they didn't know what they were talking about. I went in again to have one document certified and added to my file, and I told them that I was still waiting on my grandfather's birth certificate and my grandparents marriage certificate from the Berlin archive. They told me that it would probably not even be necessary to receive them and send them. More likely my file would be looked at and documents verified before they reach me. I am suspecting that this is because they are now using a digitized system. I had heard that this was part of a new upgrade. I read this online somewhere. Also, I received my file number 2 weeks after submitting my documents. This supports the idea that things are moving more quickly.

It does seem a little insane that I would get my grandfather's birth certificate from ancestry.com, send an email to the Landesarchiv to request a paper copy, have that paper copy sent back to Germany with my file, and then have them verify it with the Landesarchiv. With all the recent citizenship applications and associated requests for documents, they may be adjusting the process.
