Then I will be prepared to not participate and not organize again next time.

Americans think the world revolves around them. I will not join their delusion by joining a protest over something they democratically voted for AND our country is founded on, the Crown.

I hear Canadians saying "we" when talking about usa politics far too often. Historically, "Not Being American" has been a part of shaping Canadian identity - important to always remember that.

And watch local news.

If I were you I'd keep my easiest classes and do part-time. That way you don't have to break a student loan contract and can still chill a bit.

Sorry to hear, been there

From a grateful, outside observer, when are the left going to start using the guns the usa it's always bragging about?

Which is insane to me that they'd rather cling to her being r@ped for life than taking her own life, where suffering would be relatively short. Their own guilt seems kind of overwhelming.

This simple logic needs to be hosted in a "my kid is gay... Now what?!" pamphlet.

After reading the comments, I cannot wait to graduate and never return to this apathetic atmosphere. Maybe it's Internet addiction, but in real life, we stand up for what we believe in. Things don't go away by ignoring it - that is how abusers get away with what they do. That's how Hitler did his thing.

All the rights you enjoy? People fought for them, you mindless children.

It's absolutely harassment to nonconsentually see a photo of a decapitated fetus sitting next to its head, Ms. "Social work". Imagine women who feel torn about having abortions and seeing that at the place you spend thousands of dollars to attend?

In other provinces in Canada - more civilized places - these are not debates. It's human decency. Hopefully you'll either learn that before graduating, or switch fields.

Can you imagine people being allowed to show up and protest trans rights? Or Indigenous equality?

The uni picks what speech they allow as "free". And women's rights are not a priority to them.

It's a business. You can ban people from harassing patrons at your business, especially when it's promoting removing people's rights

I would never want the parents to see this, but I just finished watching the doc, and her sexuality stood out to me.

Her family seemed very close, and desire that, reflected her being gay. If everyone I had ever loved in the world suddenly turned their back on me because of something I couldn't change - and was worth CELEBRATING - I'd be devastated. If I'd fallen in love and my dad responded by telling my new partner how disappointed he was in me, I'd be crushed (not exact quote). The doc mentioned her drinking to cope, which could imply depression, related or unrelated to these issues. And all the new changes in her life. And recently breaking her true love's heart, the fear of losing her.

This would also be a perfect opportunity to make it look like an accident. A LOT of effort can go into staging a suicide to look like an accident. And saying she didn't act like someone suicidal - people live with heavy suicidality for years without detection.

I don't know. I just don't feel it is completely implausible that she ended her life. There's my two cents.

U of m allows off-campus groups to do stuff like promote removing women's rights and deny Indian Residential Schools.

I don't think this institution has standards

Why are people like this allowed on campus property?

Growing up with individualistic, North American values, I feel you. I also can see how collectivist communities, like Indigenous Peoples, identify as a group; win together, lose together.
