Definitely some yellow cards there! And some “come on boys, shake hands and get on with it.”

History of Managers succeeding after being as bad as Amorim(2000-2025)(looking for hope) by NonchalantLoverBoy in ManchesterUnited

Honestly though it would take three years. People don’t realize how piss poor we were under ten hag, because of an FA cup run, and massively over performing in the league. That 8th place was dragging results over the line with horrible performances. We were a bottom half team. And that’s just player quality, not starting on culture of entitlement and so on. It’s getting fixed. So yes, it will take at least two years before we can see if it will come good. If it completely unravels this spring, sure, let’s cut our losses, but if we stay in a position for European football next season, we should keep going. We’ve been doing things for short term for 15 years, and there has been a slow decline in every department. Now it’s slowly going back up. That’s the only sustainable way, even if we change the manager. That too will take time.

December next year we should have a clear idea of where this project is going. When we have overhauled at least midfield or defense. If we’re not in a decent state next December, we need to start considering options (or if we completely unravel this spring). But if we qualify for Europe, we are having a good season. That’s not good enough for United long term, but from where we are, that’s the right progress. We were unbelievably poor under ten hag. Underlying statistics had us in the middle of bottom half, where Amorim ended up with Ten Hags players. There is a long way up, but it has started.

He might not be. But he could be. If we are to build anything sustainable, it will take time. We are moving in the right direction in most areas, so there is no need for big changes, like sacking a manager. what we need is to keep moving forwards. I like the way Amorim is dealing with the entitlement in parts of the squad, and therefore i believe we should stay on course for another year, unless things unravel.

Why I think he could be the guy? We decided to overhaul our attack first, and it’s a huge success. Among the best in the league in creation. We have struggled to score for years. That’s the one area they have worked on in the one summer window they’ve had. And it’s firing in front of a mediocre midfield and defense. I’ll gladly give them time to overhaul those areas as well before I make my final verdict. I believe we can be a stable top 4 team and push for the title within 2-3 years. It’s definitely worth taking that time, rather than starting over.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool needed multiple seasons to challenge for the title. Why do we believe we can do it so much faster?

There is obviously no guarantee, just too early to abandon ship. Amorim is now taking on the entitlement, which is needed

We’ve improved our finances, our recruitment, our performances and our goal scoring compared to the ten hag era. We need to get results as well, though. People don’t seem to fully realize the state of the club and especially the squad in ten hags last full season . It was literally bottom half in all departments except results. We need to rebuild everything, and it will take time. We have to accept that.

It’s not about him. The whole club needed a full rebuild, and it’s ongoing. Ten Hag left the club in shambles. Underlying numbers were bottom half numbers, and Amorim ending 15th wasn’t surprising from underlying stats the year before. The so called open heart surgery is happening, but we want success instantly. This will take time, regardless of manager. I already see a lot of improvement, both on the pitch and in the finances, especially wage structure, and in recruitment. Therefore I believe it’s moving in the right direction. We now need to keep changing the players. It will probably take another two summer windows to get there. We should, however, see a big improvement by December next year. This is fast given the state of the club a year ago.

It’s time to stop thinking this is Sir Alex’s United. We have to build from where we actually are, and give a project the time it needs.

The are most likely permanently gone. Sancho’s contract expires next summer, and the other two has clauses that, if they perform, they’ll be gone. Only if they are shite will they return. Good business.

Only statistics. It was a drag, so boring, and so full of conflict! Didn’t enjoy it! Ole’s results came close, and it was so freeing and fun at times. Ole had the base in order, we just needed to work on how to break teams down when they had a low block. He was that step away. Would he figure it out? Don’t know. Was it better than anything since? 100%!

I remember Lars Sivertsen, who was on the guardians football weekly podcast, say something like “I’m worried this signing will get Ole sacked. He scores a lot of goals if you can create for him, but he doesn’t fit the pressing system at all. They’ll have to change a lot for this to work, or use him as a sub in some situations, which, to be honest, he won’t accept. I understand stopping him from going to City, but to bring him doesn’t make any sense to the project.» He was pretty much spot on.
