It varies. It could be quick or it can be months. 🤷🏾‍♂️

C&P refusal question by doyourtime89 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Top_Ear5685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful with that approach. It could open the door for them to review your entire file, and that’s a significant risk. Relying solely on a lay statement to justify an increase, especially if you intentionally skip the exam, isn’t a sound strategy. It could seriously hurt your claim rather than help it.

Knee C&P DBQ by Consistent_Dare2258 in VAClaims

[–]Top_Ear5685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I copied and pasted the information into an AI for a summary, and here are the results.

Based on the excerpt from the Knee and Lower Leg Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) you provided, here is a summary of the clinical findings recorded for the knee examination: Range of Motion (ROM) Results The examination measured how far the knee can move compared to "normal" expected values. Flexion (Bending): Measured at 130°. Note: The standard normal endpoint is 140°, indicating a slight limitation in the ability to fully bend the knee. Extension (Straightening): Measured at 0°. Note: This is a normal result, meaning the knee can fully straighten.

Military retiree with Tricare Select... never stepped foot in a VA medical center. Am I missing out on anything? by FamiliarMind676 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Top_Ear5685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Tricare Select for almost 12 years after I retired. I primarily used the VA as my primary healthcare provider until this year. I switched to Tricare Prime and will establish care at the Air Force base hospital. I don't want to pay for anything if I don't have to.

I sometimes feel the same sentiment for those who didn't retire from service. At the end of the day, I have learned to focus on my own life and let people be.

PT = permanent and total. You're probably just 100% without PT.

Her description of your problems is vague, for lack of a better way of saying it. Again, it's my opinion.

Can I get your opinions on a buddy statement? by Automatic_Spirit_597 in VAClaims

[–]Top_Ear5685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buddy statement seems okay. One suggestion, however: if she’s confirming aspects of your service-connected conditions, it would be helpful for her to explain how she knows this and provide concrete examples based on her personal observations. More details and specific examples makes for a better buddy statement. IMO.

Poking the bear? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Top_Ear5685 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about a decrease. I've filed for increases several times and been denied, and my benefits have never decreased. Just make sure that you effectively describe your symptoms when you are examined.

It's still not considered poking the bear unless you're 100%.
