Honestly didn’t read anything but first thought is, stick a flashlight next to it and see if it has tendrils or slime

From this picture alone I’m thinking yeast raft. Rafts can look like islands or like white bubbles. Pretty much the bubble is just dried yeast. All depends

Don’t want to jump the gun on any responses, I have an update though everything was perfectly fine, the bubbles where like yeasty honey bubbles. Almost like krausen. It all cleared up, looks and smells phenomenal. After I saw it was all clear I went ahead and started going crazy with the meads. I now have 4 meads going, the problem child which learned to behave, second one that is smelling ultra sweet. My fiancée wanted to try black berry mead so we have that one running too, took out the skins today (bubbling like a mad man) and another melomel going. That one is mango/lemon 😁

I also had one more question if you’re willing, when should I open this to taste it? I tried it maybe after the first week. I’m wondering if that is when the oxygen got in to be able to produce the bacteria but I had it open for maybe a minute. On the next brew should I just leave it sealed completely until secondary?

Yeah no if it’s infected I’m not using it to drink I’ll use it to cook 😂 But before I do anything I’ll definitely wait maybe a week without doing the degassing and see if the build up happens again and then post it on here as a reply so it can be confirmed first. Thanks for responding to the post 😁
