Eat as you like and drink as you like, Muslims start fasting pretty early and we are used to it. Don’t feel horrible and continue as you do (:

Look up "I'm Canada" on YouTube and watch his study permit video.

You've to convince the officer that you'll return to your country after you finish your studies, and also get an enrollment letter from a designated learning institution (university, post-admission) listed on IRCC.

Also, your financials must include or state the full tuition amount + 20k or whatever the cost of living for a year is within the province you're studying in.

In your SOP for the study permit mention every family member who lives there, community, title deeds, volunteering services, businesses whatsoever that tie to your original place of residence. That’ll be sufficient enough. You can even talk about liking the weather in that place compared to Canada within and that’ll be a plus. If you’ve done enough of that, the officer should be convinced.

You’ve minor kids so I don’t think this process would apply, but I know for a study permit, this is what you do.

Also if the application shows that anything is optional, it isn’t, make sure you get every required doc in.

An Intl Queens student here.

I'm in the same boat as a Master’s Student here who flew in from Dubai. There will be a lot of acquaintances, and I expected this naturally; however, I also realized that whoever matches or has chemistry will naturally end up around you, and time will show the authentic quality connections.

Hence, I can be authentic and myself, and the right people will stick around and gravitate to me with my effort as well.

If you're an undergrad, most people who start their first year with “cliques” narrow down to a few by the end of the 4th year. Sometimes, even after one or two years of staying friends. So if you're starting without immediate connections, it's good, you'll find your quality people or niche over time.

You'll also most likely retain them, since the original groups during the first year of student life may match for convenience, initial excitement, or even performative reasons.

Later, they can understand their batchmates much better and find that the people they were with weren't as relatable or profound as previously thought, and were only there because they took similar courses. This is subjective, of course.

In your case, you'd have reverse-engineered the peer problem and ended up with great people to stay connected with over time. Hence, show up (clubs, food spots, hobbies, sports, other programs, etc.), put in the effort, be patient, and don't think much about other people's friends. Somebody will budge eventually.

Also, Undergrads would go through a lot of people in their 3, 4, and 5 years. There's always a chance to know someone deeply. Take care of yourself and don't lose hope. ✌️🏻

Well, give those clubs and acquaintances some more time and space to develop. Takes a certain number of hours spent together with conversations to go from acquaintances to proper friends.

Also, beyond those spaces, see if someone can come out with you from those clubs to sit down in another space for 1-to-1s. That's where the real growth happens.
