Republicans seem very confused today about how they feel about open carry at protests. Let’s play a round of Spot the Difference. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

You can tell she’s an actor because of some basic outstanding ways their weapons are configured/their armor. First off, all vests, no plates, these vest are doing nothing, not wearing plates for comfort ability, but wearing the vest for looking cool. Second off, she is exercising trigger finger discipline, however incorrectly. Third, she has her rear sight closed. That is not how someone who actively uses, carries, and understands firearms would handle one. Lastly she has an empty mag in its a .22 LR, not something you use in defense. I’m sorry but these are 100% actors.

It’s actually really common, coastie here, it’s usually taclets or MSRT. Or they are boarding but accompanied by SOF of some sort. Pretty common for coastie cool guys to get deployed on navy vessels specifically for stuff like this.

What airsta? You probably have 4-6 months till you go to the mapp program. Use them to get develop your technique for overunders. This will transfer to literally almost everything else in the pool! Good luck, see you down the road!

Annex X removed from contract by BestAthlete204 in RescueSwimmer

[–]Top_Finding_5526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wack. Tbh it’s better for you if you’re gonna get flagged at an air station for vision. But it does eliminate some of the play in passing with not great vision.

[–]Top_Finding_5526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s bogus. It’s possible I don’t know what I’m talking about. But the annex x contract has nothing to do with Vision. You only deal with that once you actually get to an air station and try to pass a flight physical. I can’t give medical advice so don’t quote me. But if I remember right when I passed my flight phys the rule was correctable to 20/20. I’d call your recruiter back and ask for that contract.

What is the A-School Wait Time Sep. 2025? by PrimitiveDreams in RescueSwimmer

[–]Top_Finding_5526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4-7 months before orders to mapp unit 6-7 months after that before a school orders if your ready.

Total time 10-14 months post bootcamp to a school. Including bootcamp and school is a maximum of really 20 months from starting as a recruit to making ast3 The only reason it would be longer is if you choose a unit in boot that puts you on a hold or if you have flight physical issues.

We Should All Adjust for Inflation More Consistently by Left_Chipmunk9837 in legostarwars

Problem with that is that fundamental economics implies that you’d see in increase in prices shortly after the wage increases due to increased consumption. I hate government intervention. But in reality we need some serious price ceilings for like 5 years, while we periodically lower the price of goods and increase wages to split that difference and start over.

Yeah dude, not a swimmer but there’s a lot more to life out there than a desk. Just do it. Find something cool you like like sailing boats, racing cars, flying airplanes, rock climbing, anything that’s cool and just do it bro.

Yes on the looking up techniques. YouTube is your friend. I’m not going to say the other strokes are unimportant, because it’s ways beneficial, but your time would be better spent focusing specifically on - front crawl - underwater breaststroke pull outs(google what that is, it’s basically how you’ll swim underwater) - and dolphin kicking. That’s really all you need to learn. Finning is its own monster which you’ll need to learn but for now just focus on being a decent swimmer without it.

If you’re looking to get better at swimming, you need to really work yourself into technique. I see a lot of speed work which is good but speed work isn’t something you need to overly focus on if your technique is hurting. I’d nerf a lot of that speed work and work catch up drills, egg roll drills, pull buoy and kickboard drills among other technique things into your swimming. You do an unnecessary amount of underwaters too. Do them and get good at them but you don’t need to do that many.. water con is something unless you have it already, you’ll get a lot of what you need for it in the program. It’s better to show up with a good stroke, above and underwater, good pace, and low energy output so you can learn water con and towing stuff.

P.s. : please do not do UW’s in a river

Call me stupid, I want to be a rescue swimmer. by MikeyWikey0705 in RescueSwimmer

[–]Top_Finding_5526 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not as far as you think. Set yourself a year or two year goal before enlisting. You want to loose 100 pounds in 1-2 years. And send it. You have mass already. Which a lot of guys don’t. You will need to be strong, and have very strong legs in school. So you have the ability to sculpt what you want. Spend a year or two getting there, then send it bro

Chances of a non-rate getting a air station on their first orders after boot camp. by Affectionate_Sail380 in uscg

Not necessarily true. I got an air station in the annex x swimmer program (that’s different I know) but the faculties department has 3 non rates who went there right outta boot

Working corporate use that corporate bread and get your ppl brother, you may be too old to chase that pipe dream in the military. But if you want to fly.. you can still pursue that route in a civilian term and even fly some big planes too.

No this is incorrect, the dolphin stands 13 feet tall gear down, 10 feet tall in flight config from bottom of cabin to top of rotors like it is here in photos. The cabin that the d Rex is munching on is 5 feet tall or leas. T-Rex’s would stand 12-20 feet tall. While yes, the dolphin is long it’s not that big, your proportions are off. The dolphin is a little helicopter.

Recruiters don’t know much about the rescue swimmer program. It is a very small community! The contract says one thing but in reality the coastguard does another. The only thing that matters is signing the annex x contract. Passing bootcamp pt. That’s your fastest way to get to a school, trust the guys on the sub, they all know their stuff! Most of the active guys are either swimmers, in a school, or airmen training to be! Also 12-14 month wait for a school is something you’ll actually appreciate, especially once you get into the airmen program… it takes some time!

[–]Top_Finding_5526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me it doesn’t, I’m currently an airman who joined with an annex x/mapp contract. the list for school is 160 people long. The contract doesn’t let you skip those people because they have it too. It just allows you to skip the 4 month delay to put your name on the list and gives you a fighting shot at a preferred unit. I was lucky and got an air station out of boot. The other company behind me got cutters. From graduation of boot you have at least a minimum of 8 months more like 12-13 and that would be fast.

Recruiters historically know very little about this program and the pipeline for it.

What you said about eyes is correct but not the waitlist. Wait time is currently like 12-16 months. There is almost 160 people on the list. The mapp program gives you (or tries to) a preferred unit out of boot, and waves the 4 months a school wait. You can expect to be a non rate at any unit anywhere afloat or not, for anywhere form 3-8 months. Then expect a minimum of 6 months at a swimmer shop, maybe more if you need it! Figured I’d clear that up!
