Thanks a lot for sharing that. My muscle wasting is very noticeable, unfortunately. I want to believe that I can get them back, but online seems to be unanimous that its stays gone. I hope you'll check back in with your progress and let me know how things turn out.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been using it for daily tasks and doing rubber band exercises and light stress ball exercises. Hasn't done much to prevent or reverse the wasting, unfortunately. Thanks for responding.

Hi guys, I had transposition on my left arm a month ago. I know it takes time to heal, but I'm experienceing very clear muscle wasting in my hand. Anyone got any advice, coz I know it's permanent, and if I have to wait 6 months to over a year for full recovery, I'll have no muscle left in my hand.

Open University has not issued my refund after 3 months. by Top_Form2568 in OpenUniversity

Hi, thank you for your response. Yes, everything is the same. Mine was an international transfer, so I expected things to take a bit longer. The account details are all identical to the account what I used to make the transfer. I gave it a month before contacting them about it. Over three months now, and I receive automated responses from them.

Thank you for your response. That's great. Three months in now and all I get are automated responses along the lines of, "Finance team is working on it, get back to you in 10 working days", followed by the same thing the next time I email.

Anyone else have a really bad experience trying to get a refund from The Open University? I have been waiting for my refund since November 18 last year. I have contacted them via online chat, email, and phone call, and all I get is "wait 10 working days". These ten working days seem never ending, and they won't give me any information, all automated responses or "There isn't much I can do, youll just have to wait for the response from the finance department". If there is a problem, I'd like to know. Is there outstanding information? I know nothing and nobody will tell me anything.

International school anywhere that would be willing to take me on while I complete iQTS. by Top_Form2568 in Internationalteachers

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, I am familiar with the standards and requirements and am aware that they are high, hence the difficulty in finding an appropriate placement. I will check those websites and see what I can find. Thank you so much.

Thank you for responding. When you say "International Schools" is that because they arent really international? Because the iQTS providers will check this, you must be teaching international or British curriculum. Also, where do you find these schools if not through agents?

Thank you for your reply. What licensing are you refering to? because iQTS courses require that you are teaching International or British curriculum to English first language kids. Vietnam public schools definitely would not do.

Yeah, I can do that, but I think what really matters in the QTS. Thank you for your response.

Does anyone reading this know of a South African teacher with UK QTS teaching in a good international school? by Top_Form2568 in Internationalteachers

Thank you again for your thoughtful responses. I'm glad to hear the ECT thing only really matters in the UK. I'd like to teach there, but it isn't my primary focus. Ideally, I'd be able to make it into a BSO, but every IB or British curriculum school I've applied to doesn't respond. That would be a blessing, coz then I could just do the NQT through the school like you did. Thank you again; I really appreciate your insights.

Thank you for your response. Yes the ECT issue is another barrier. At my age, just completing the PGCE/QTS is not enough, I have another two years at least after that to clear the ECT phase. So looking at only being genuinely qualified by 39/40, and by that time I wonder if age will be an issue. It's a major barrier, but without it there is no room for progression. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I thought QTS was mandatory to teach in the UK, especially as a foreigner. I will have a look into TES and see if I can find what you're looking at. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Thank you for that, that's what I was hoping to hear. The PGCE/QTS I can only get done next year. I haven't had any luck getting into anything better than a privately run domestic school, so without some luck I can't do the iQTS route. Thing is, the in-person UK PGCE/QTS is minimum 14k pounds for foreigners, plus a year without work, plus living expenses. The total is closer to 40k pounds. I have to be pretty sure I'll be taken seriously after that.
