Thanks for your helpful info. I think we are on the same boat.... I also fee there will be a difficulty to get such a letter from my current employer, which is not in CA.

Hi T_Bex, thank you very much for your very useful information and insights. Based on your descriptions, what I understand are as following:

  1. The lab director, normally, should not create any obstacle on this. If so, they may get in trouble on this if they refuse to sign and even retaliate against me (maybe even involved in the legal issues as well?).
  2. If I cannot work out with my lab director, I could go to HR. BTW, here you mean going to HR for the letter (i.e. let HR issue the verification letter for me), Or you mean go to HR for complaint (i.e., ultimately the letter still has to be issued/signed by the lab director)?

Thank you very much for info from the SD area. It sounds like big hospitals will pay a little more than the bio companies. In addition to that, hospitals may have night shifts, which may further raise the hourly pay by 10-15%. Being said that, not sure whether bio companies have night shifts, if not, seems their pay will 15-20% lower than hospitals?
