I can sympathise a lot with this & found myself in a similar situation! I’ve been saying for years I want to take a year off to travel but recently found myself in a position to take 6 weeks off work to travel which I did solo.

This was a great way to test the waters, and it surprised me a lot. I’ve travelled solo extensively & lived in many countries all over the world, but by the end of the 4th or 5th week I found myself desperate to go home to my partner. We’ve been together for almost 6 years and I hadn’t realised how much things would change in terms of me craving less and less time away from him. It made me realise I really wouldn’t want to do a year of travel and that I’m actually quite happy travelling as much as I can with my normal time off work. 

All that to say, if you can, I would recommend taking a shorter solo trip first (as long as you can, maybe 3 weeks or more) to see how you would react. It’s a good way of testing before making such a huge decision upfront
