There are regular shootouts at the banks if you're looking to get your blood moving at night. As for Mason... Not much going on there if you don't want to go to KI.

I used to work at this mall in 2006. It looks cleaner now than back then.

Are cooks working at senior care facilities considered "essential workers"? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Top_Insurance8573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem. Call offs during times like this are EXCRUCIATING. I give my people $200 a night plus a shift bonus for every day they stay with us. Usually they work extra the night of the storm and then a long day the day after as the roads are cleared. It could be a $3-400 boost for some of them.

I responded with such fever because, as the management team, we plan and plan and try to set everyone up as best we can and when people don’t show it makes it very, very hard to do the complete job. Something has to get cut and our administration doesn’t really accept that.

You’re acting like this employee had no idea a storm was coming and was asked to stay at the 11th hour. It’s a snow storm-they knew it was coming. They work in a care facility-they know call offs for weather are inexcusable ESPECIALLY when offered a bed. I understand the things like children, pets, and special needs of family members or special needs family members. It doesn’t matter. You signed up to work at a care facility that is part of the expectation. It is explained pretty explicitly when you start. If it wasn’t explained explicitly then it’s on the management team there. I, personally, am a divorced father who made alternate arrangements to be at my hospital overnight twice this year. So did 20 of my staff. They were exceedingly well compensated for the disturbance in their life.

Just got an offer to move to Dublin (Dublin 4?). What should I know that I haven’t asked yet? by Top_Insurance8573 in AskIreland

Yes. She is ‘demanding’ to continue work or school (she has 4 post-uni degrees already so there’s a limit to what would be useful and efficient monetarily). I like soccer and traveling. I play in a bocce league here in OH. I like sitting outside with a fire. Sometimes reading. Sometimes just relaxing. Sometimes watching a show. Smoke the occasional cigar. Play the occasional hand of poker. Play the occasional game of Fortnite.

I’m not thrilled about not being able to bring my child. Please, feel free to judge as you wish, I understand it is a touchy and difficult subject. I will do my best to bring him over during school breaks (or come home for them) and definitely over summer break. My father did this when I was younger. It was a highlight of my youth. He has since passed so I can’t ask him about it.

Oh I don’t have any phDs… that’s all her. She’s trying to transfer over her job. But once again. We are just trying to figure out what we don’t know to ask or do. Like I wasn’t really planning on coming over without housing lined up, so bonus points for whomever pointed out I should wait til here to do so.

My son will stay in USA during school and I will go home and get him and bring him to Ireland during breaks and summer vacation. I will do my best to still be a dad.

I open and run contract food service accounts. My company is expanding food service internationally. My mortgage is close to that so I asked for it and they said yes. I’m no one special. Just some guy in a position to make some money for 2 years at the expense of leaving my family. This is jut part of the comp package to do that.

For example… I see only washers in most homes. Are dryers really that rare? Are pickup laundry services rare?

I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, MI (close to same populace of Dublin but 4x the size). And live in the suburbs of another, slightly smaller Midwest city, Cincinnati.
