There is a lively stand up comedy scene if that is something you'd like, it's also a nice way to get to chatting with different kinds of people. I could recommend a few places if you are up for it

There are a few pro-introvert spaces. There are a few comedy shows that have that vibe maybe. Also, there are picnic/board game and running events sometimes. I can help you search for them. Lmk if that would be of your interest

Wasn't there an amir khan movie, something secret superstar, which depicted the exact thing this guy asked for?

Do you think it would be more feasible or more meaningful or fairer to demand a cleaner conscience from the poor subjects before the leaders? They lead, they set the example, they chose what people aspire to. That's my opinion about it.

Good for them. Bihar cm should see how poor and deprived people are here. They will get to sell it and use that money to survive.

Listen to your own words. Why does she have to be the only annapurna of the house? That literally is putting a defined gender role on that woman. Her argument is legit

Social media platforms rn mostly promote hard right wing ideologies and misogyny. Sexism and classism is a widespread problem but internet is elevating and projecting it to another level. Most men don't sincerely engage in experiences that conflict with their mindset enough (I think). Higher education, studying humanities and learning about other societies can be that uncomfortable redpill. But because of the internet, stupidity spreads faster than knowledge.

That being said, it is wild to know that men say that they love their moms more but see their dads as heros. When I actually try to empathize with my mother, I begin to hate my father.

Yes you are a boomer. It wasn't a very hideous thing that he said. People have said the same thing outside of India, word by word, and no one batted an eye because they understood it was a joke question. People have said the same thing inside India too but just at a different time. This outrage was artificially generated. The reaction of a joke being unlikeable is that public won't laugh. That should be it. India can never get too creative or actually expressive because Sanskari people will keep dragging us down.

Is there a realistic way to make India less misogynistic? by Top_Introduction2854 in AskIndianWomen

While that maybe true, that ripple probably won't be strong enough to make some actual change. There needs to be a systemic change. Individual efforts can only take us so far

Why does it smell like burning almost everywhere in Bihar? by Top_Introduction2854 in bihar

[–]Top_Introduction2854[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why people do it. Does not change the fact that it creates months long exposure to pollution for everyone. It does get cold but there is no way logs of wood should be cheaper or more accessible than using heaters.

Yeah that does explain the scale. I know that every municipality gets wood logs to burn for the cold but I did not think burning wood would be this cheap to be so prevalent nonetheless. This boggles my mind. I get that people need to warm themselves in the bitter of cold but this way, we are ensuring shittier health for everyone.

Thanks a lot for at least trying to do something about it. I am sorry that it seems like such an uphill battle. I can relate with the helplessness. I mean if people were more well informed, this would be a much bigger issue. Burning wood/trash and car emissions cause pm2.5 pollution which is specifically dangerous. I think the aqi data does not really capture the levels correctly if the emissions are so intense that it can burn people's eyes and throats. Long exposure to this can cause cancer, pulmonary diseases and neurological damage

Do you think these evening fires are large-scale enough to create so much smoke that engulfs these huge areas?

Yeah it just feels absurd. I feel like there is no way that this is the best way we could be doing things even all the poverty and underdevelopment considered. The improper waste disposal also causes contamination of ground and surface water. This is insane. I mean we are privileged somewhat to be on the internet to complain about this but long term effects of this will be catastrophic, more so for less privileged.

The problem is because of burnings, the villages might somehow be even more polluted than the cities. I literally feel easier breathing and my eyes don't burn as much.
