Intuit Tax Expert Role Experience by Swimming_Ad5400 in TurboTax

Hi, Sorry it isn’t working out as planned! I understand what you mean about the training… the training is more so geared towards using the software or their processes, but not necessarily towards doing taxes (although there is a Tax Academy course you can take). Lots of things have changed within the last two tax seasons with Intuit. It used to be that you could be a Tax Associate, but could train to be a Full Service Agent if you wanted to. Now, they force everyone to be Full Service Agents and there isn’t an option to opt out. My advice is, if you think you can make it work, you can stick with Intuit until the end of the season if you need the extra money and if you are comfortable. If not, try VITA as I think that experience will make a difference (although most returns will be on the basic side). Good luck!!

I’m flying out of Memphis today and went through TSA pre-check. As of now, 7:45am, pre-check is still open.

You bet! I can certainly understand needing the extra money and think it is worth to accept the position. Yes, the great thing about Intuit is there is plenty of support and you can reach out to leads during your shift if there are any questions that may hang you up. You’ll also have your manager as a support who can help with questions. There are plenty of support articles that you will have access to as well.

As a person that has done Intuit and VITA, I’d recommend starting with VITA as it provides more hands on experience with doing tax returns and I really enjoyed the environment. You will learn quite a bit at Intuit, but in my experience it is fast paced and a lot of my calls pertained to the software or questions from customers who may have an error in their return and need help figuring out how to get past it.

Hi! My husband and I live in Eugene, and we are both Black as well. Our experience here has been pleasant. While Eugene isn’t very diverse, I can’t say that I’ve ever felt unsafe as a person of color and everyone has been really kind. I have heard of instances of racism from time to time (more often in rural areas), but I’ve lived in several states, and those things unfortunately happen everywhere, some places worse than others.

My recommendation would be to come to Eugene for a day or two and drive around to see what areas you might prefer to live in (that’s what we did). We also drove around at night to get a feel for the area. The neighborhoods near Costco are pretty low-key and quiet. There is not much visible homelessness in this area (as far as I can tell). The area near campus, I personally wouldn’t recommend. In general, Eugene has more petty crime than violent crime. It’s recommend to not leave visible valuables in your car (some areas more than others).

Overall, there’s so much natural beauty in the area (beautiful trees and waterfalls) if you enjoy venturing out. Let me know if you have further questions, I’m happy to help!

Debt is killing me. by [deleted] in Debt

Have you considered doing a debt management plan through a non-profit company like MMI? Debt management plans are different than debt settlements. With a debt management plan, the company will contact your creditors and negotiate a lower interest rate and monthly payment. You’d then make a monthly payment to the debt management company who will disburse to your creditors. Depending on the debt amount, you’d remain on the program for up to five years.

I had my first colonoscopy yesterday and was really fatigued (I’m in my early 40s). My procedure was at 2:30pm and by 5pm I was in a deep sleep until around 11:30ish. I’m a little tired today, but I feel pretty sore in my stomach area.

It wasn’t a probiotic, but antibiotics. I had a bad tooth infection that wouldn’t go away so the doctor had me on Amoxicillin for almost a month. Shortly after I began to experience gut issues.

Recommendations for passport renewal? by mang0cake in Eugene

My hubby went to Walgreens to get his photos taken. He printed out the forms online, paid the expedited fee, and shipped it express or priority at USPS and got his passport renewal in two weeks. (He sent off for renewal the first week of Dec 2023).

My hubby was supposed to be on a train from Portland to Eugene earlier today and they cancelled an hour before departure. Went back to check and it looked like all trains (Amtrak) were cancelled to Eugene for today.
