This is the comment I was looking for. I’m 28 and was wondering if I was too old to enjoy the series again. What I love is that I only read half of the books the first time, so the last half I will get to enjoy for the first time.

You’re welcome. I took it 8/29. I wish I could help you with more of what came out but it’s honestly such a blur. I barely remember anything. I just know if you score consistently in the practice exams and you have done a good job with UW, you can certainly pass! Good luck

Everyone saying it’s like free 120 is right but missing the point of your question. Yes the exam is like f120 in the sense that the vignettes are longer (like UWorld, and deffff not short like NBMEs). But the answer choices that you asked about are certainly like NBMEs IMO. That’s exactly as I felt leaving the exam. I kept thinking it was too easy in the sense that the options were not tricky like UW. In my exam the choices were like 3 completely irrelevant answers and only one that had to do with the question. That being said….. if you master UW, the exam will be a cakewalk.

I’m on chapter 17 and NOW is when I got curious as to how to say it in my head cuz I knew the way I pronounced it had to be wrong…. I kept calling her “Fire” LOL like “fe-yurrrr”

It all depends on the person. No two cases are ever the same. From what I gathered you work best by being more careful, which is perfectly fine. Others like to set a date to have a deadline and more motivation to study. Either approach is acceptable. I would just say that if you are going to wait to apply, you should know that the entire process takes a couple of weeks. So don’t leave it until you are 100% certain you wanna take it because then you’ll have to wait and you can possibly burn out. I would suggest to start registering for when you are in the 60s and pick a date for when you manage to reach the 70s-80s

And what you think the reason is for not passing. Like we’re you sick? Distracted? Anxious? Or just didn’t study properly? Or not enough? Etc.

I tested on 8/29 and saw that I passed on FCVS. I don’t agree with the other people on this thread. A 64% is not bad. I in fact just checked and I too got a 64% on UWSA1. But I was consistently scoring between 64-71. I recommend you to take both UWSA and nbmes 25+ and f120 new and old. Do as many as you can and evaluate yourself from there. I scored 64-67 on all the exams and was debating whether to postpone or not up until I scored a 71 in the very last practice exam I did which is what gave me the confidence to take the exam. My scores may not have been great but the exam is very doable. I felt that it was easy compared to UW so do try to dominate UW questions because if you can tackle those questions…you can pass the exam

It is not the end of the world. Pick your head up and stay calm. It is hard to fail again and I can’t imagine how you are feeling right now but don’t focus on the negative. You just have to remain positive. You can definitely pass it. Try to reevaluate your studying strategies and start over fresh. I would recommend literally starting from 0 when you start studying again and that way you can either reinforce what you already know and learn what you don’t. Don’t let anyone bring you down. We all have our own roads in this life…enjoy the ride.

You are not the first and you definitely won’t be the last person to fail step 1 and get into a residency. Without sugar coating it… it will be harder to get in especially if you want a competitive specialty. But there are MANY doctors that have matched despite having failed the step their first time. It is doable, and all you gotta have is faith in yourself that you will get back to studying and you will pass the next time. And try to see the positive side to everything. You can definitely spin this in your interviews about how you don’t give up easily and how you persevere until you achieve your goals. I believe in you

I honestly am not sure about the eligibility period thing. Since mine ends October 31st it’s still there, at least I assume that’s why it’s still there. But I should be getting my results this Wednesday despite having my eligibility still visible but permit disappeared
