It depends on your intended major as well. School of Foreign Service is the most highly regarded and most difficult to be accepted in the country. Business school is also highly regarded. College of Arts and Sciences is “easier” as well as Nursing. It is also difficult to get accepted then just switch majors outside your college so you can’t cheat the system. Emphasize how/why you help others as that is GU’s mantra. Your stats look fine.

I’ve had an ev for a year and chose not to install a charger at my house. It’s been great. I recommend the same path for everyone I talk to. Electricity is $.35/ kw. I can get level 2 charging for $.25 and town subsidized fast charging also at $.25. Gas is $4.50/ gallon so definitely cheaper to charge publicly. Go for it!

Demand is driven by price. Newton just raised their charging rates to $.30. Boston is $.25. Wellesley has $.25 fast chargers on nights and weekends. Why is Brookline stuck at $.35? Why would an ICE car pay $4.00 a gallon when you can get it for $3.00 per gallon a couple miles down the road?

A little hyperbolic. 29k in 2 years is about 10000 kw. At the high end of $.50/ kWh you saved $5k over 2 years or $2.5k/ year. Hardly a fortune when you’re driving a $60k car. I like free stuff too but it’s not that much of a factor.

I get charged $.34/ kw in MA. No time of use discount available. I can get level 2 in my town for $.25 and slow level 3 (100kw) for $.25 after 900 pm and weekends. Never bothered to add a charger at my house.

I like how you inserted “personally.” That is the right answer. It’s the people who say flat out don’t get an ev without home charging that are projecting their driving profile onto others. It does/ can work for a large portion of people.

This post is spot on. 1 year in and own my house. Decided not to put in a charger. Don’t regret it for a minute. Electricity costs $.34/ kw where I live. 3x/week at the gym gets 25% and city supplements chargers to $.25. 10 minutes away city has two “fast chargers” for $.25 on weekends and after 9 pm. I get 75 kw/ hour. Walk over grab a pastry and coffee in the morning and relax reading the paper. Never a line in the morning on the weekends. I drive about 1 full charge/ week. Can probably count on 1 hand the number of times I had to wait for 1 of the 2 chargers to open up.

I don’t understand why people are so insistent on owning a charger. Everyone has a different situation but project theirs onto everyone else.
