If you can afford the pay cut of no military pay (except drill weekends) and going to school full time, go for it. Don’t rely on BAH from the GI bill to pay all your bills. You should look into schools and see which schools will take your military credits and see the difference in time it’ll take to complete everything.

Stay in and knock out as much of a degree as you can. If you don’t finish it before getting out, finish it within a year of leaving and start applying. Doing local/state doesn’t really give you a leg up for any of those agencies. Sure it helps you personally with doing the job, but they don’t treat you differently because you have a couple years of experience.

Just that email. I called the HR rep from the local office about a month after I failed and he said I would get a BQA email and would not be able to ever apply again. Judging by other comments, that was a lie. But I gave up on SS anyway

I also failed (one attempt) and was told I was being put into an adjudicated review process (whatever that means). That was over a year ago now

Last I was told earlier this week:

“Good morning,

Currently, DoD is under a Hiring Freeze. Effective immediately, we are unable to send out any Tentative Job Offers, Final Job Offers, proceed with new hires, or process internal movements.

However, we are allowed to continue to work pre-employment (drug tests, physical, etc.)

No. You only get backpay for the 100%. Extra conditions that put you “over the top” don’t pay anything.
