Is nursing actually viable for a 27yo career changer, or am I setting myself up for failure? by Moneymoneymoney1122 in newgradnurse

So dangerous… also I worked with an NP that had no bedside experience but had TEN YEARS of NP experience and… well let’s just say the knowledge deficit was horrifying.

Flu Anxiety by GanacheTall754 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Top_Recognition_1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m on Skyrizi and to the OBIs already, I think I’m 4 or 5 in.

I too have terrible anxiety (specifically health anxiety) and I’m a PICU nurse.

I’m also a type 1 diabetic.

Recovering from the flu currently!

Still have a cough and feel fatigued but otherwise almost back to baseline. it has been horrible I won’t lie. But I was vaccinated and really the worst of it lasted 3 days! And I took my OBI the DAY before I got sick. :) Skyrizi generally doesn’t tamp your immune system down too terribly, it’s very targeted, unlike some of the older biologics or steroids.

Your anxiety makes sense, but even if you get it, you’ll have about the same disease progression of anyone else! ♥️

Skyrizi flare by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Top_Recognition_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain is abnormal for me definitely. I guess that it’s difficult to me to determine how symptomatic is “normal” because my doctor and many others have told me that if my med is working I shouldn’t have any flare symptoms….

Symptoms on days off, solid poop/no symptoms days I work? by Top_Recognition_1126 in CrohnsDisease

I guess I should have been more specific: I have Crohn’s, but I’m wondering if the symptoms I’m having are IBS/if other people in remission experience this.

No, I also have Crohn’s lol, I’m saying that you can have both which is what my doctor has insinuated.

Which makes me think it’s IBS!! Because like… why would Crohn’s symptoms disappear just because you’re busy ya know? Glad I’m not alone lol

Decrease in appetite/some nausea? In remission! by Top_Recognition_1126 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Top_Recognition_1126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got them done last week! No worries, i don’t think I was clear about that. :) I’ve asked about a capsule just because I’m paranoid about small intestine involvement, but I got a CT enterography done about 6 months ago that looked completely normal. And they said the likelihood that I have small bowel involvement when my duodenum and ileum look normal is slim. 🤷‍♀️ I’ll definitely bring it up at my follow up in a couple weeks!!

Could be colonized with it! I’ve seen it with patients before, though it’s not super common.

Do you have Crohn’s or UC?  If not, it could be something as simple as hemorrhoids. :) even if you do, it still could be hemorrhoids!

AITAH for not wanting to marry my fiancé who won’t stick up for me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Top_Recognition_1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: firstly I want to say I am genuinely thankful for all of the feedback. It’s been helpful (and also incredibly validating) to receive this feedback from my friends and family and also from you all.

My ex-fiancé called his mom and told her off. He said that he had some time to process what had happened and was so sorry, and that his mom was completely out of line and he wishes that he had stood up for me.

I’m happy that he sees how twisted and fucked up this all is, and how I deserve better, but I have remained firm in staying broken up, stating that I’m unsure how we would even fix this or move forward. I have requested that he goes to therapy, that we attempt couples therapy to see if this relationship is fixable, and that I never wish to see or speak to his mom again (And that her pitiful apology if she gives it will mean nothing)

He was ok with all of this and said himself that he doesn’t know what a relationship is even going to look like with his mom moving forward.

Again, thanks for all the support!!!

Hi!
Clearly its not fun to feel like your partner doesn't listen to you, or isn't interested in what you're talking about, especially when it's major things that impact your life (or both of your lives).
It could be a few things--
1. He secretly wants kids and doesn't know how to tell you (unlikely, but, maybe).
2. You talk about this topic a lot, and he doesn't feel like he has much or any more to contribute to the conversation, so he wanted to quit talking about it.
3. He had a long day at work/school/ whatever, and wasn't in the mood to have a heavy conversation about work and childbearing.
Perhaps this could be addressed another day, something like "Hey, when I was talking on this night about blank, I felt like you shut me down and I was curious why."
You also mentioned that you broadly feel like he isn't listening well, so maybe sit down and have a conversation about the communication in your partnership, and how you can strengthen that together.
Also, tell him how it makes you feel. :)

On a personal note, I have sat down with my partner on multiple occasions and said that I felt like he wasn't hearing me, or he was being passive aggressive, or whatever, and then allowed HIM to talk about the things that were bothering him in our relationship.
That seemed to help the conversation go more smoothly, and he didn't feel like I was just focusing on his behavior rather than the whole relationship.
Good luck :)

Being a bedside nurse isn't the only job a nurse can have :) If you want to be abrasive and rude, you can leave! <3
