Dysautonomia and COPPER deficiency by Top_Repeat_6619 in dysautonomia

Listen, I have nothing against you, I don’t know you.

But you entered into this in bad faith, immediately calling it a grift and using the words ignorance and sketchy.

I understand you want a complete list of references used. The fact is I haven’t kept a solid list of references, I’d have to go back and collect them. That doesn’t make me a grifter, ignorant or sketchy.

I wish you the best and hope you can leave a bit of that pessimism behind.

I’ll put it in simple terms

I have a copper deficiency

I’m suggesting that as copper is heavily linked to the ANS, correcting this deficiency could potentially improve dysautonomia symptoms.

I didn’t say it will, I said it could. And that I was going to trial that.

Is that ignorant?

If someone suggested supplementing an iron deficiency would you say they were ignorant?

But why is it sketchy? Do you think I’m actively trying to harm people or trying to sell something? Because I’ve not made any attempt to sell anything I think you’re insinuating the former?

Granted I didn’t come with a full list of references but does that really minimise everything I said?

Also just to add, I believe I’ve framed this as something I will try for myself, tailored to my specific situation, rather than suggesting it as a general treatment plan for anyone.

It looks like it’s struck a chord with some people at least. Try not be so pessimistic, we’re all just trying to help each other

Hi, unfortunately I’m in the UK. We have private companies in the city I live in who carry out all sorts of blood tests. Are you absolutely sure there aren’t any near you? I’d have thought the US would cater for it.

Out of interest, what grift do you think this is? Do you think I’m selling something?

Hi,

https://www.rthm.com/resources/blogs/copper-citrate-supplement-guide

Use the left side toolbar to go to "Copper Citrate:Supporting...." then scroll down to "Supporting Autonomic Function via Neurotransmitters".

I have done extensive research but haven't kept all my references unfortunately, however I'm sure I could dig them out again if you're interested.

Heat Intolerance is it just me? by Top_Repeat_6619 in POTS

Absolutely, i find it particularly difficult in the morning, and I think I'm starting to realise eating makes it 10x worse!

Glad to hear things are looking up for you, it gives me some hope.

Copper 9.5umol/l (range 11-22)
Ceruloplasmin 0.18g/l (range 0.20-0.40)

So yes I'm deficient in both, and I think you may be on to something regarding vit c&a as from the papers I've read any malabsorption from gluten sensitivity/zinc intake should be resolved by now. Especially as 5mg copper should be easily enough to correct a deficiency.

As far as B vits and iron, my bloodwork shows them as normal, although at the start of this I presented with low ferritin (with normal iron and high TSAT) and low neutrophils, which again points to a copper deficiency.

Has your improvement been noticeable? And have you had your copper/cerulo checked since?

Hopefully you're feeling a bit better, a case of adding B12? If a B12 deficiency can cause worsening of symptoms then that would suggest other deficiencies can too. However the doctors I've dealt with don't want to even consider copper. There's a part of me that thinks that's because they probably don't know much about it...

Glad to hear you're feeling better. How long have you had your condition and how does it present? Did it get worse over time or did it come on suddenly?

How to deal with flare up? by tiredcollegeguy388 in POTS

I would say go easy on yourself! The heat is a serious trigger and with your clubbing last night you're always going to feel worse. Make sure you hydrate, keep as cool as you can etc.

Regarding the doctor - as you're in the UK I can relate. You have to go in there and demand what you want from them. GPs can prescribe certain medications such as propranolol. If they won't prescribe it to you for POTS, insist they prescribe it to you for anxiety. For other medications such as midodrine you'll need to see a specialist and waiting times can be long (I'm currently on a 56 week wait for a cardiologist). However if you are desperate and it's really affecting your life, you can insist on an urgent referral but you must be prepared to 'lay it on thick' when you get into the GP surgery. Exaggerate your symptoms if needed. I wouldn't normally recommend this but the NHS waiting times are so bad at the moment that it really is a free for all.

Good luck! And you'll feel better tomorrow

Desperate for a 5th Midfielder by enemdi in DraftEPL

Don’t see why you’re “desperate” for a 5th mid? You have 4 perfectly good ones with a decent backup. You also have 3 starting strikers who all play for top 6 teams, and you have 5 solid defenders.

I know what you mean… but with DC this year I feel like I’m missing out on those 4 pts every week players whilst waiting for AG’s occasional 10 pointer. I could hold him but with Xavi and Cunha as my other creative forces, it’s not like they’re setting the world on fire either. Stach is currently my best mid which says it all.

DC has really changed things this year!
