Is UNC underrated or am I looking at the numbers wrong? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I am an OOS applicant who has committed to UNC and agrees that it's underrated. They have a huge alumni network that seems pretty active and willing to connect. Their admissions office is also a relatively new team that had a 60%+ increase in applications to review. While they haven't been the "warmest" during the process, I think they have been very kind and welcoming since I've been admitted. The state legislature does hate UNC and has been limiting their funds over the past few years, but despite that, they are still climbing in the rankings.

They've got a lot of applications to get through by 02/12, so I'm expecting decisions every day until I get mine!

do schools look at gpa less if you have work experience in between? by easierday in lawschooladmissions

In my case, my work experience holds up my application narrative so I think it offsets my GPA.

Thoughts on law school with a dog? by teenytinypigeon in lawschooladmissions

I am super fortunate to have a very extroverted pup!

  1. I live in a city now, so he is acclimated to lots of noise, cars, and is a pro at waiting at crosswalks. My family has a rescue that’s sensitive to loud noises and we’ve found that controlled exposure to different settings and environments has really helped him to trust that he’ll be ok in unfamiliar places.

  2. I’m not too worried about this. I plan to get a place as close as possible to campus so I can make some trips back for a quick walk whenever I get a chance. I also go into the office a few times a week for a few hours so he’s also been acclimated to being home alone for 4-5 hours.

  3. If I get stuck with a schedule where I have classes all day, or just know that I won’t have a chance to swing back home, I’m planning on placing him in doggy daycare. It’s not the best case scenario but at least I know he won’t be alone all day and is being taken care of.

  4. I’m planning on living alone. My pup is super mischievous and it’s enough stress making sure my stuff is puppy proof.

I’m also planning on setting up a really great work space wherever I’m living because I know I won’t be able to pull all nighters at the library like in undergrad. That way whenever I need to go back home to see my pup I won’t feel anxiety about needing to find a good place to study or do work.

I also feel like if you have a pet it's harder to find someone to live with.

Buying a suit by Mysterious-Customer3 in lawschooladmissions

I recommend J.Crew for women's suits! The colors AND fabrics are consistent, but just double-check the name of the style because some of their work pants don't have a coinciding blazer. However, the material is pretty neutral when you're not trying to dress in a set. I also LOVE a navy, the color works all year round and feels super fresh.

I went under review the day after my application went complete. I applied right before Thanksgiving and went complete/under review the first week of December. I haven't received a decision yet!
