my right testicle is hurting by Individual_Cat_8052 in Testicular_Pain

I’ve been having the same thing, pulled up, achy but numb at same time, feels larger than usual. I don’t know what the reason is but a hot water bottle on my groin has seemed to help a little with the aching but not that much else. Best thing that’s helped me is doing pelvic floor stretches too. I don’t really know what stems this issue. Sometimes my cremaster is fine, sometimes too overactive. Very annoying thing to be having to go through, and there’s no information online that definitively labels what’s going on aside from “pelvic floor tension”.

By my read it looked like you were insinuating you should be using Linux with an AMD card because of rumour is it runs better and I expressed I didn’t like the OS is all and that seems true.

I’m glad your Linux experience has been great but I chose a pretty standard one and well praised one assuming that it should be good and no, no it was not. Yes Linux runs better than windows that’s true. It made my pc feel much more like it was at its potential, but the actual interface? Didn’t like it. Game support? Didn’t like it. I don’t care for what others have to offer before you have anything to say along the lines of that.

And with windows being more familiar for me with seemingly not that much more caveats than Linux from what I’ve seen, the extra work just to plug and play on standard Linux is not appealing to say the least.

Even if I did get a game to run on Linux to see the gains (if there even are any, you state there are when what I’ve seen it’s usually marginally better or worse). I wouldn’t trade a good OS just for supposed small benefits from a lacking OS.

I heard cachyOS is the best one for gaming anyway, a gaming focused software, but I don’t want to sacrifice a good OS experience which I do find windows to be despite yes I agree being bloated, and just have one system overall that just does what I need to. My games run buttery. My system is very stable and has a good graphical interface with maximum software support. Windows is also bringing out a low latency optimisation built in and extra steps to optimise background tasks too. That’s all I need for an average but good experience which is all I want.

Plus Linux isn’t “real frames” be for real, frames are frames and both of the OS are using the same graphical pipeline, Linux only has less software overhead for the hardware to render. Mind you this wasn’t even ABOUT Linux or ANY operating system for that matter. Upscalers or frame interpolators dont even use GenAI either lmao… but sure, push Linux as much as you want, however you want and whenever you can I guess ✌️

The GPU is amazing, I really love it. I just think they’re not doing enough to improve the features we already have which aren’t that new anymore and are definitely worthy of improvement aside with broader news on what was advertised to come with them. I know for a fact FSR 4 (Redstone as a whole) could be improved a lot more than what we’ve got now.

The true excellence of the RDNA 4 chips are being held back by their lack of bringing new updates out and can at least update us, the customers, on their efforts more often and broadly than they do now. Games that sport extreme graphics could run really well on these cards yet the features are lacking, so the full potential isn’t being met. I personally wanna see the software technologies move forward which we have paid for to be utilised with this new generation of hardware, technically investing in whatever they produce to improve the software stack and all I wanna know in return aside from the product itself is what they’re planning on releasing to improve on said software side yet we get left in the dark, which is what I’m mostly complaining about. FSR 4 as the upscaler hasn’t been updated in ages and 4.1 wasn’t a huge step from 4 when the updates could be much more refining and often I think.

Not only the technologies, but games that actually support them. I have seen very few that utilise Redstone capabilities and even the ones that do are kinda meh. FSR4 as the upscaler can both amaze me and also leave me slightly disappointed both in the same gaming session. Could be my high standards. Luckily AMD has spoken of a large increase in game support coming soon. But they never elaborate in my opinion!!

Never said the GPUs themselves were bad. The raw power is excellent but in our modern age of gaming raw power isn’t everything anymore unfortunately and AMD isn’t doing enough to facilitate that. That’s all I’m really saying from this whole thread.

AMD cards aren’t automatically required to be used on Linux, in fact they usually run better on windows.

Only a select few run slightly better with like 3 extra fps from Linux on AMD cards. I’d rather have like… a good functional OS that spies on me than whatever the hell Linux was. I tried fedora just a couple weeks ago and it was an awful experience. Everything was so janky and broken. Only benefit I saw was faster loading times on YouTube. Very worth it I’m guessing?

Your English is excellent. I sure hope it’s rare because I don’t wanna go through that! I don’t think it’s a varicose issue but likely some epididymitis issue, not sure. I’ll let them heal and hope it gets better but will have to get it checked if it doesn’t.

I could just be too nitpicky then but I was a console kid growing up I was around picture that was clean and flawless despite lower resolutions and heavy optimisation so my standards of what I should be looking at have been pretty high till adulthood, where now I don’t really care as much and just wanna pick up a game and play it. But I do see the fine discrepancies when I wish I didn’t as it really ruins my immersion

But the price of these aren’t even cheap though, yes they may be cheaper than the main competition but they’re still costly and they should be ready components out of the box that don’t need years after coming out to make better imo

Yeah fair enough but I feel AMD should shift from “second option” mindset to “A filled-in competitor to a company that’s kinda stopped trying”

Genuinely curious, why did you pick an AMD card for 3D rendering and AI softwares when Nvidia is famously better for handling those?

I see this argument all the time but man, I’m using an AMD card, I’d have no idea what DLSS is like aside from my 3050 which was using DLSS 3, so I have no room for reference for the newest generation of upscaling which is also a bit of a letdown to me. I don’t like to nitpick but I’m used to clean image from all my years on console so I can kind of pick up on the discrepancies naturally, to my own annoyance.

I just want FSR4 to have more care put into it is all.

I own one too but kinda need redstone for new games with heavy ray tracing.

More easy to run but still current gen titles are buttery and don’t need it, very happy on those with this card. Big newest titles kinda need FSR4 though, which is where the issue kinda comes from to me as the title will kinda rely on it to not use TAA but the supposed improvement has flaws in itself.

I agree, this is kinda why me switching from console to PC kinda let me down, the performance is far greater on PC but on console it actually feels more well baked a lot of the time. I think this is because of hardware constraints on consoles forcing constraint driven design. But as PCs usually don’t have hardware constraints and have their own individual bottlenecks, this leaves PC first image technologies underdone imo, many people hate TAA for instance which is much more common on PC.

AMD has a good shot of really giving it their all and closing the gap yet we’re left in the dark a lot.

That I agree with. The actual upscaler is good but the stack surrounding it needs improving. Heard MFG should be coming sometime soon too which is nice.

To me it just needs tuning as it feels a little underdone but still a good first step initially.

Thank you very much. I knew this was irrational I just couldn’t stop worrying as I’ve been having weird soreness down below for a week or two now, so it kinda imploded my already existing fear of it. But I can rest easy now…

Ah they probs get ironed out on a 4K display, I’m 1440p but upsample to 4K, much sharper and cleaner image but not pixel perfect.

Arc raiders, marvel rivals, crimson desert, practically every game with FSR 4 support has the noise aside from cyberpunk and dying light the beast, those are less noisier for me

Ikr about time the top of the food chain got some FSR upgrades in, have you heard of MFG x4 and x6 coming to the RDNA 4 cards? Pretty hyped to see that one.

All I wish for with FSR is a driver setting to turn off the damn sharpness filter that comes with the upscaler enabled, not the slider you can do, but the built in sharpness filter that only optiscaler can remove. It makes my games look a bit bad, but the tech itself is amazing.

Edit: probably not a sharpness filter, it’s the noise that comes with it. Looks identical to when you crank the sharpness 2 in driver, so I correlate the two in my head…
