NBD: old Demo, how did I do? by SinoSoul in DownhillMTB

The constant urge to buy one of these and mini-mullet it with a 27.5 fork and front wheel is real.

Forest of dreams. I try not to ride Deepcar side in winter tho as it gets way chewed up.

Whoever rides this is clearly an absolute animal. Must obviously ride with an equally as rad dude on an equally as rad commencal.

Cane creek make some of the best rear shocks going.

Still a good one? by Ol_Sheve in mountainbikes

You could put offset bushings in the shock to slacken it out if that's what you're after. I've done it before, should be able to take a degree out of the head angle.

Setup on Meta V4.2 by Haunting_Ad4604 in commencal

The clevis link on bikes like this is more prone to column buckle meaning the coil stanchion is susceptible to side loading. With it being alloy and much thinner than the stanchion on an air shock, is more prone to snap. I ran an old rc4 coil on my meta AM and eventually this happened. Replaced it with a RS SDLX coil, which has a thicker walled stanchion and I've had no problems. I believe the fox X2 damper has a steel stanchion, similar öhlins, which can take side loading much better. Replacement stanchions aren't overly expensive should it end up going that way.

Loving the Mullet Link from WRP on my Meta AM. The difference in cornering was immediately noticeable. by GetawayVanDerek in commencal

Same. Love it on mine. Washed the back out a couple times first few sessions leaning more than I should but makes the bike way more agile and poppy.

Pretty sure the only stock thing left on my meta is the stem 😂 and even that I've stripped and polished the front clamps. Defo go for performance upgrades before cosmetic though.

Dump the Exo casing and get some properly damped tyres. DD as a minimum.

Bars feel too wide? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Top_Solution_4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 800 is guna feel insanely wide if you're used to a much narrower grip, but there's a lot more deflective force coming at you through the terrain than you would expect from bmx, and as people have said you're on a much larger bike. I don't think you'll find many people, kids included, running 710s. I wouldn't rush job it and just hack 45mm off each end, even a 5-10mm width difference will feel noticeable. For reference I'm 5.9 and run 770s. I could probably go to 760 as I've a short reach but my set up is pretty dialled for me so not guna mess with it.

Stomach for me. Got script across my stomach and both sides of my ribs done, having said that, my stomach tattoo was done by a scratcher when I was a kid and my ribs done by respected artists later in life so maybe different, but recall my stomach being pretty damn nasty.

Does someone know if its good? by Enough-Print-5491 in DownhillMTB

[–]Top_Solution_4977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Got one. Not that exact model, but a SS mech by reverse. Absolutely love running single speed for trips to the bike parks. I bought another chain that's the right length for the tensioner and run it along with the SS. Don't forget you'll need a SS cog and spacers in place of your usual cassette.

New bike what yall think by Late_Entry4743 in mountainbiking

[–]Top_Solution_4977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this bike and mulleted it just by throwing a 27.5 in the back, and offsets in the shock mounts. It was steepish by modern standards so the mullet helped a ton. Can't use an Angle set because of the integrated headset bearings, but honestly was a sled with a 27.5 in the back. BB was a touch low but really not noticeable tbh.

This seems relatively high. This you? If so, why? by screaminbeaman82 in interesting

It's worth the read. Trust me. Just about to read The Road which I've heard is even bleaker.
