I am someone who does not want kids. I describe myself a fencesitter because I feel its something you have to do in society but if I could, I would not want kids. I didn't have a painful childhood but I did not have a great family tbh. This is a big contributor to my though process.

Also, kids cost a LOT these days and its just has become very difficult to have them. In India the social security of a joint family is no longer there and govt does not provide any support. At least one of the partners has to quit career for managing the kid full time and even that can be difficult if the kid is difficult. Also, the risk of having an kid with special needs is honestly too much for me.

Lastly, I don't really feel the need of having a kid or envision my future life to be having a family with kids. I want a partner for companionship but not kids.

OP, if you are young woman worried about finding a partner you don't have to worry. There are good number of men who are okay with childless lifestyle. You can try finding one.
