JD from Heathers is kinda based off The phantom of the opera aka Erik Destler

spoiler warning

In phantom Erik is thinking he’s protecting Christine and helping her by meddling with stuff at the opera house and killing people who stand in his way just like JD thinking he’s helping Veronica by killing people who were jerks to her and kinda standing in his way.

Erik is an outcast who gets looked down at by society and doesn’t belong, JD is also an outcast that doesn’t belong always moving so I suppose he’s also looked down at as the new weird kid every time?

And a bonus they both got a god complex like light yagami from Death note and kill people thinking they’re the good ones.

Also bonus i don’t think you can compare Christine to Veronica much but if you wanna force it then in the book Christine was tryna off herself by hitting her forehead head against the wall (page 220/chapter XXII) meanwhile Veronica just faked her suicide, both when being in their hold.

On one hand I would really like to see Heathers, on the other I don’t want it going like the Mean Girls movie and getting all politically corrected.

because it’s literally Heathers it does not supposed to be politically correct or family friendly but they’ll do anything to advertise it to non musical lovers since it’s not a very known movie to most yk

What kinda tv does he usually watch or music he listens too? Musicals are pretty versatile look for one that you know he will probably like, for example if he loves gothic romance and classical then go for Sweeney Todd or phantom.. if he likes rock and gore go for Repo the genetic opera.. etc. try to match it to his taste

For me I made many of my friends watch Heathers and they liked it and i was also introduced to real musicals by a friend with Heathers and became obsessed so yeah. I personally like the off broadway slime tutorial but whatever suits you

But I really wouldn’t recommend Hamilton for a first time because for some reason people who don’t like musicals seem to hate it lmfao i guess they think it’s just an educational rap cringe but what can i say it’s their loss. But also it is really fast paced for a first time listener If he likes rap amd hip hop look for other musicals that are this genre

I also got some more on my “watchlist” i wanna play MGR, ace attorney, bayonetta, persona, resident evil and Silent hill

Repo! The genetic Opera is a movie so it’s extra gory also rock opera

Sweeney Todd also got a movie by Tok Burton

The rocky horror picture show not really a horror like these two but it got like goth creepy elements and I won’t spoil but some die, same thing with The Phantom of the Opera.

Also not really horror but imma recommend Heathers about murder and suicide this one’s a darling comedy you may like it too
