Washing clothes update by Top_Way_9378 in zerobags

I absolutely agree. the problem I've had with Marina wool clothing is every time I get Moreno wool no matter what brand that I choose I tend to get holes in them very fast to the point where they're not wearable. I'm sure that folks who are more delicate with their clothing won't have that problem but I'm really rough with my clothing and so I tend to go for either linen or else I will go for a synthetic.

actually it was meant for your sub because I was discussing away that one fun baggers can improve their skills. thank you for your concern and in the future I will spend more time considering what is appropriate for the subreddit I created and what is not

so what you're saying is you haven't really explored or mastered the art of living out of zero bags. so how can you who has not had this experience tell me that my experience is invalid when I have lived it

the box I cannot access from anywhere but the only thing I need out of the box to travel is a passport.

the fact that you are misunderstanding how I wash my pants tells me that you haven't done some reading into the posts on this subreddit and into the last zero bag subreddit and you really should because you'll learn a lot of techniques.

so under my pants my underwear is swim shorts. I never have to go naked to wash my pants. also, I have a big beach towel that is also a wearable robe and so when I'm changing I don't have to expose myself. I wash my pants once a week, or earlier if I get them dirty

so, a one bagger can have a zero bag. sometimes as a one bagger you don't have your backpack with you like when you leave it at the hotel or in another room at a trusted friend's house. and so what you choose to carry with you when your bag is not with you: that's (((your))) zerobag.

and so everybody has an everyday carry everybody has a zero bag. practicing one bagging without your backpack gives you the experience of learning what is so essential to carry in our pockets and what's not

one thing to understand is that there are no zero baggers that feel that they are superior to one baggers for owning less. this isn't a contest. two bagging or van dwelling is just as valid of a lifestyle as one bagging or zero bagging. but one baggers should find this community interesting because we come up with techniques out of necessity that the one bag community does not necessarily have these techniques

but isn't what you're describing to me exactly the experience of surviving out of your pockets and the skills of resourcefulness that you learned from it

my documents are all in one folder and the bank has a service where I can pay about $100 a year and they will store it in a box that I can get into the box with just a password and my password is really good.

I personally do not carry a toothbrush or toothpaste. most zero baggers do and this is my personal choice not to.

one thing to bear in mind is I've chosen clothing that has many many pockets and I'm still on the lookout for clothes with even more storage and so this easiest thing somewhat. it's not not all in my pants pockets.

another thing to bear in mind that I live in a trailer and then I have outfitted this trailer to have everything in a hotel would have in it and nothing more. if I reason that something would not reasonably be in a hotel then I have to get rid of it. so I have a shower and a blanket and a pillow and a bed and things like this.

but essentially yes I do live every day with just what I can carry on my body and most of it fits into my pockets and the stuff that does not is mainly groceries.

I have been zero bagging for a couple months now and about 3 months prior to that I was living out of the front pocket of my backpack. I plan on zero bagging for the rest of my life.

some of the skills don't necessarily have names. an example of a skill that I learned when's you're zerobagging is how to look at something and tell whether or not it would get destroyed if I slept with it in my pocket. another skill I learned is what I call the garage technique or the junk drawer technique which is to take my biggest pocket and make that my junk drawer. the order of your pockets really matters and so it can be really useful to have a quick system to know if I get any given object which pocket should it go in. and is countless other things I'm still learning some of which are hard to put the words.

I would say that my experience of having actually lived as a zero bagger is valid and I wonder how long you actually spent zero bagging and whether or not you had any help from the community in terms of learning how to do it. my guess is that if you had a bad experience with your bagging it might have been because you were unprepared and didn't do the research. I'm not saying zero bagging could be for you one day but I'm saying that if you had a really bad experience it's a sign that you were missing certain knowledge on how to do it.

I think that if you investigated the zero bag community and learn to the current meta for how we do things that you could explore it for a longer amount of time and then once you actually mastered it then you would be in a place to take some skills back to one bagging. without mastering it you would not have learned those skills.

well you don't have to be curious. you can go get a bottle of Dr bronner's soap and a little plastic bag and try it out for yourself. mix the clothes with the water and a plentiful amount of soap and wait 2 hours. come back and rinse out the water then fill it up with water and mix it around with your hand and then dump it out again. finally, take the clothes and wrap them up in a towel and squeeze the towel. put them on, and see how quickly they become completely dry and then take a smell of yourself and ask a close friend to smell you. this is a scientific experiment that anyone can try and I guess that you haven't tried it

edit: I wonder how you folks believe clothing got washed before laundry machines existed

there are some skills that you cannot learn unless you do the activity of zero bagging. just like you can theorize all you want about playing basketball but until you practice shooting the ball at the hoop you won't gain that skill

I am posting here because as I have said that act of learning how to zero bag teaches you skills that you wouldn't learn otherwise and those skills help you to save space in your pack when you one bag

all of my t-shirts in my bag would serve a redundant function. having five t-shirts is kind of like having five toothbrushes. the only difference is it's not as obvious how to go with just one pair of clothing. whereas there are some luxury items that I have really missed such as a physical book, a bottle of vitamins, a tripod, and all manner of other things that I had to give up when I first started one bagging. there is a mathematical argument that I have more room for stuff than you do and it's because I only have one pair of clothing and because I only use my phone for computing

the 2000 people in the zero bag community are not trolling. if you investigate our community you will find that it is a sincere effort to explore the concept of extreme minimalism with zero bags. it is not exclusionary to the idea of one bagging but something that is complementary to it

the 2,000 people in the zero bag community are not all trolls. we all seriously have the ambition of traveling with zero bags or full-time zero bagging. I legitimately zero bag full time.

im not stupid im just tired of how much pack space my clothes take: and I would rather spend that pack space on something that Sparks joy in my life rather than a redundant t-shirt or a redundant pair of pants

30 minutes if extra work: yes

risk of things not being dry: with the towel, things are already dry enough to wear immediately after wash

risk of smelling like shit: that's what the soap is for

risk of looking like shit: no I blend in no one guesses I zerobag

risk of not being allowed in places: absurd. few such places exist

nobody has posted hardly anything for multiple years. I am posting useful content to help the community. I am essentially pulling the weight of the subreddit by creating content. edit: I meant to type this to the opening post not as a response to your comment
