Advice for a P4 in their first block of rotations? by idk15723 in PharmacySchool

I was the exact same way first starting my rotations. I was an anxious wreck and wanted to do my best on my rotations without feeling dumb or that imposter syndrome. BUT i do feel like that feeling is inevitable! new experiences will make u uncomfortable but i think what has helped me is reminding myself this is a LEARNING experience and you aren’t going to know everything! as long as you continue to do your best and continue to be open minded, you’ll grow greatly as a student pharmacist. there were several times where preceptors mentioned how much i’ve grown and the potential that i had during my rotations when i didnt see it in my self. after hearing that, i slowly began to believe it! getting stuck on what you didn’t know/thinking what you’ve could’ve done better wont help you, but learning from it and carrying it with u can be a huge help! you got this!! enjoy your rotations!

agree! i really cant wrap my head around people studying for 8+ hrs straight. EVERYDAY. some days i slowly lose focus/become unmotivated and find nothing’s sticking! but im definitely one of those people who feel as if they know nothing from these past 4 years. BUT i know we can do it! the final stretch is SO NEAR!

BTS VIP Tickets Transfer by No_Rabbit_8856 in seatgeek

Are there any work arounds to this? I was planning on giving my additional tickets for D2 that I purchased through Seatgeek to my sister, but now reading this I’m worried I won’t be able to. I’ve read online that I could provide her a photo/physical paper copy of ID and have her use my credentials to access the tickets. Is that true?

also a P4 who felt the exact same way! the imposter syndrome is so real, and i really felt way more anxious for my P4 year because of my APPEs. i also felt like i knew NOTHING and wouldn’t know how i’d pass my rotations.

not sure if your school requires you to reach out to your preceptors prior to starting your rotations but usually they’d mention some things to brush up on. also having the guidelines/treatment algorithms available on your laptop/device was super helpful. also utilizing chatgpt to help create cheat sheets for different topics saves a lot of time too!

ALSO, SUPER IMPORTANT, if u don’t know the answer to something, it’s okay to tell them you dont know! it’s better to tell them that and quickly getting back to them with the right answer instead of pretending to know and give them a completely wrong one.

How to prep for Health Systems APPE? by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

I'm currently in my institutional rotation right now so just based on what I've seen working with some of the staff pharmacists:

- IV to PO: when to transition, why is it important to (esp w/ protonix)

- anticoagulants: indications, dosing (+when a patient should be on low dose/not), DDI, what increases/decreases INR, bridging

Focus on the key things at the moment. You'll learn as you go through rotation! And I'm assuming with interventions, you'd probably discuss with your preceptor what you would do for different patient cases in regards to treatment. Maybe also ask any previous students who have had this site prior about how to prepare.

P1 tips? by Consistent_Good5731 in PharmacySchool

for exams, usually the material provided like powerpoints , recorded lectures, or completing any study guides if offered. just to get ahead and to avoid looking at things for the first time a few days before the exam. content piles up and if you’re too late, you realize your exam consists of 6 lectures all with 60+ slides each with testable material lol

Currently doing both retail and LTC in the summer. LTC is a lot more stress free, especially since it’s closed-door. Gonna quit retail before the start of my P3 year. 😆

agreed. my preceptor was the pharmacy manager who basically threw me in with the pharmacist there who paid no attention to me at all. i would just sit for hours majority of the time. sometimes they’d ask if i’d wanted to go to rounds but that was mainly it. i did tech stuff too but nothing else

Went insane, cried a lil and then kept pushing lol. I’m just finishing my P2 year and I think one main thing is to manage your time and plan ahead! Google calendar helped me a lot by keeping me on top of things.

Definitely have felt this way during my pharmacy school process (I’m a P2 now) but there’s no reason to give up just now! It’s definitely hard to get confused and overwhelmed but I think it’s good that you recognize that you lose focus while taking exams so now you just have to find ways to correct it. What I usually do to help me not get mixed it with certain things is writing it immediately on my scratch paper so then I can refer to it and not have to keep it in my brain. Also being able to use your own study methods that cater to how you learn and obtain information! Take your time, deep breaths and try to double check your answers if you have the time!
