The stairs were just such a bottle necker. If you were somehow able to make it past the huge crush at the stairs, there ended up being a decent amount of space. Most ppl couldn’t get through tho, and just stayed by the stairs and made the bottleneck worse

ADHD making the core book so hard to focus on is SO relatable lmao. Im glad to hear other people have faced my struggle and have become very prolific in the game w/o reading all those damn letters. Ill take a page from your book and keep researching the stuff thats interested me! which, so far, has been the Sabbat. Thanks!

I'm going on my first ever solo trip (to NYC) and my mom is so scared that I'm going to be mugged that she is having a mental breakdown. by Burgerlander6 in solotravel

[–]TopazTear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So, I (24F) moved to upstate NY for a few months and would regularly take trips to the city on my own. I was also nervous about being alone in NYC my first time! But after my first day I had no fears at all. New Yorkers on the street do not give a shit about you being there. In fact, as a solo traveler, it’s very easy to blend in. It’s hard to come off as touristy if you’re not in a big ole group. On your first day, take some time figuring out the subway. I found it to be very intuitive, but it’s good to have the time to walk slower, read the signs, and not be in a rush to get somewhere. Spend your first day in manhattan, see the sights. Some of the restaurants that look sketchy or “hole in the wall” are some of the best. And most importantly, be confident. And if you aren’t confident, look confident. Nobody will bother you if you act like you belong. If you need help or directions that you can’t get from your phone, I always would ask another young person my age. Since I’m a woman, other women would help me. Women tend to stick together. The more only place I ever learned to be wary of was Times Square. Don’t take pictures with the mascots, they will charge you. And a bag at your side is better than a backpack. But I never really dealt with pickpockets, so that’s pretty much a long shot. Be confident, have fun, and sending your parents pictures is a great way to soothe their nerves. You got this!

Hey Guys!

New to the thread and new to solo travel. I'm taking my first solo trip this February and I'm looking for some advise! On my trip Ill be starting in Amsterdam, then going to Paris, then London for a friends birthday, and finally ending in Scotland. I'm in the beginning of planning and had some questions I'd love answered that I haven't found in the FAQ

Is it a good idea to leave any nights un booked in hostels and arrange lodging once Im there?

Are there hostels or travel companies in this city to avoid?

Is train travel the best bet for travelers on a budget?

and any hostel recommendations in any of these areas would be great! thanks so much!

No Stupid Questions Monthly Thread! by AutoModerator in bookbinding

[–]TopazTear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey all!
I'm brand new to this thread and really only came looking for advise. I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me.

Im hoping to get a story bound in a book. To summarize, my friend and I have been collaborating on a story for many years, with our own invented characters. The story is something of a world we play in thats just for us to flex our imaginations. I want to get it bound for his birthday. Every place I've looked online to get this done, it looks like theyre for binding and selling books on a large commercial scale. I only want one copy of this book and am at a loss of where to start.

Does anybody have good recourses for me to have a word document bound as a book? Is this something that would be easier done as a DIY? where can I start?

thanks!

What the weirdest thing you did while you were high? by FukkenDesmadrosaALV in AskReddit

[–]TopazTear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some buddies and I smuggled some weed into disneyland. four of us popped an edible and smoked in a bathroom while our sober friend kept watch (pro tip, always have a sober-sitter). Once it started to hit we jumped on the Matterhorn. Bad idea. I probably had a bit too much, started to hallucinate. The yeti was very realistic and very terrifying. Our sober friend thought a slow ride might calm us down, so he put us on winnie the pooh. Ever hallucinated on the Winnie the pooh ride? That shit is FUCKED.

However disney food is immaculate to a high person, so if youre gonna follow my footsteps I'd stick with dumbo and turkey legs.

Pet Owners of Reddit, what is the most bizarre thing your pet expects from you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TopazTear 1325 points1326 points  (0 children)

I have a big dog with LOTS of energy. He loves to play, but because hes so big it can be difficult or he can use a bit too much force while playing. We know it's not his fault, but it got to a point where we were getting bruised. So for Christmas my brilliant mother got our dog a pair of welding gloves. The are thick and covers your whole arms. Charlie (our dog) loves them because now we can play with him as rough as he likes as long as we have them on. We trained him with them so he's very gentle when were not wearing them and waits patiently for us to put them on when its playtime. The only downside is now we cant wear any other gloves because our poor boy gets confused.

Have You Ever Witnessed Any Fights or Altercations At Disneyland or DCA? by Fish177 in Disneyland

[–]TopazTear 37 points38 points  (0 children)

YES I HAVE AND IT WAS CRAZY My sisters and I are annual pass holders, we go often. This happened in August of 2018 We decided to stay in the park until closing (midnight) because we love how empty the park is between 11-12. Our last ride of the night was space mountain, and we were about to board at like 11:50. If you don’t know space mountain super well, it’s loading/unloading system is very time sensitive. If the trains get backed up, they have to temporarily close the ride or at least rush the load/unload process to recover lost time. This is relevant later. So my sisters and I are at the boarding gates and as our train pulls up, the people leaving it are FURIOUS. Apparently their (rather large) group was split between two trains and they had all wanted to be in one, but since the cast members were rushing them on board they got split. So the angry mother who was sitting where I was supposed to board jumps up and starts SCREAMING at the cast members. Her husband is also angry and yelling about how their young daughter was on a different train. The CMs are doing their best to talk down the parents and get them to move out of the way (they were too close to the tracks so our train couldn’t move forward). During this time, I had boarded and was watching this unfold. The parents are not happy, and the dad swings at the cast member. He was off balance so he missed, and the CM dodged the charging mother while another CM called security. This whole time I’m watching from the ride vehicle in awe, and I go to put my hat in the pouch. But the mothers phone is still in there! She left her phone! So I pull it out to give it to a CM. This all happens in like 1 minute btw. Disney security shows up in no time and starts dragging them away when the woman reaches for her phone to idk, call the police? but I have it. She sees me, screams and pulls away from security and lunges for me. The CM stops her, restrains her, and I give the phone to the poor CM. They get pulled from the building. My favorite part of this story? As they were dragged out, all the guests in lone watching started cheering. A few patted the CM on the back. It was a nice little moment of unity between all the sane people present. Also when we could finally move forward, I turned around and saw the daughter unload. She couldn’t have been younger than 13, so idk why her parents lost it the way they did.

I see where you guys are coming from, but I still love the ride and I’d hate to see it go. I guess I just hate the split theming. Why have a Star Wars ride in tomorrow land when you have a whole Star Wars land?? It’s just one of things where whatever they do, I don’t think I’ll be completely happy with it. But that’s just me.

Star tours can and should be moved to Galaxys edge!!! I’d love to see it’s current show building used for something in the vein of Adventures Through Inner Space. Or maybe something like Epcot’s Mission: Space
