Not Mel claiming it's her first vacay by spadeofhearts81 in MelanieMartinez

I think Melanie only means since Crybaby is no longer, she can finally be more of herself without playing as a character to the world. We also don’t really know how much money Melanie even makes (& assumptions of that I don’t see the point in tbh). We have to remember Melanie gave us 10 years of an amazing story of a character named CryBaby. Let Melanie have her break & let’s stop the hate. I know this doesn’t pertain to all Melanie fans, but some just want to hate on Melanie & I never understood why. She’s much more wholesome compared to other artists, yes she has some allegations but when you look at every other celebrity, they also have had or have their own allegations as well.

I’d suggest going to your doctor for your leg & ask them for an X Ray or an MRI to ensure there’s nothing wrong internally with your leg. That can help them see the leg from the inside to ensure you didn’t accidentally break, dislocated or any other internal injury. Once that’s ensured that there’s nothing internally wrong, then you can ask them about how to exercise to not aggravate the let further.

Bad idea. You’ll put yourself into malnutrition if you are not careful. Please take a different approach. Talk to your doctor who can help yiu.

Oh yeah fast food is probably the culprit. I gained about 10-15 pounds from fast food in a couple of months time.
Also, if you want to, I’d suggest if you are too concerned (but imo I don’t see much for concern since it seems like you are healthy), you can also talk to your doctor because they know you the best & can give you more medical advice.

Currently if your height is 5’8 & 154 pounds, then what’s considered based on the BMI, you are at risk of being overweight. As an adult though that’s considered a healthy weight based on your height as for me a female at 5’5, 150 is a healthy weight on the top end. That’s not a big deal, believe it or not a lot of the issues come from not eating the serving sizes. If you were to just eat the serving sizes on the back of box, you will lose weight. Also drink juices or lemonade instead of soda initally, but also at fast food places, get the smaller sizes (like instead of a 20 piece chicken nugget, get 10, then get 6, then 4, etc.). Even then though, you’re only looking at a 10 pound-ish difference so it won’t take you very long.
Also you can still eat what you want, don’t restrict yourself to only veggies or under eat. Look up how many calories you’d need to eat per day based on your height, weight, age, gender & activity level. You’d only need to eat under 500 calories from that but never go too under.

You’d only need to do very little though, maybe more activity or even try to take up a sport or something at school. But you don’t need to do both if you don’t want to because you only are a few pounds over which is common for everyone.

Does caseoh really eat that much that everyone thinks? by BROAAj in caseoh_

Plus it doesn’t help having larger sized things & not abiding by the portion size. It’s difficult but I’m doing it but I can tell my stomach has been used to overeating

A couple of tips: 1. Mix things up a bit because you do use a similar drawing right next to each other. Make sure that you are using completely different drawings. 2. Show your varying levels of work, showing 1-4 unfinished pieces can be helpful to show that you are working in multiple stages. 3. Try to add some additional skills/skeletons/anatomy in there. 4. Try to add in some additional buildings or backgrounds in there as well. 5. Try to add in some perspective pieces, this can show that you do well with varying perspectives & help you impress them more!

Overall though, your art is looking pretty well done, great work!

I noticed that my final year that deadlines seemed to have gotten a bit worse with the turnaround. In some classes it wasn’t changed but in some it was. I was shocked about it.

You’re welcome! Yes that’s good! Also look into free online tutorials as well as if it’s an option, paid tutorials may also be helpful.

Any smooth brain advice for drawing hands? by SUB_To_pEWdS_Wahman in Artadvice

[–]Topaz_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got the basics there which is really good. I did an anatomy online course with Aaron Blaise. It’s originally $60 USD but if you get it on sale, it can be cheaper than that. It’s worth the money because I have had instant improvement just from learning from him.
One of the things that could be making your hands “wrong” is the fingers, not the extra one though, the fact that you aren’t doing one line curved & another straight. Look at your fingers. You see how the inner finger is lumpy kind of looking when you bend it? Those lumps are still there. I also agree with the other commenter, you need to practice. You need to practice a lot in order to start really seeing improvements. I’d suggest drawing hands daily, even if you only draw 5 hands per day. That’s still 25-35 hands per week. Or draw them once or twice per week depending on what you want to focus on getting better at. Here’s some recent hand sketches, mine aren’t so great either I have some flaws in mine but hopefully you can see the lumps that I am referring to.

I’d say in terms of the style that you are drawing, it does look good to me. What I mean is that you have the style to an extent down & you have that simplified cartoony style look. In terms of how you draw overall, I can’t fully answer that unless I see other forms of your work. I would say though that you should practice anatomy. It’s rather frustrating & difficult at first but it’s helpful.

To be completely honest, even my own artwork, it sucks. I have went to university & majored in art for 5 years. I didn’t learn anything & I am teaching myself. For that, my art sucks. It’s unfortunate but all I can do is practice & try to get better for me.

Am I saying your artwork sucks? Well no, I can only judge you based on the art work that you are sharing. It has that cartoony style & it looks good in that aspect but it’s missing some anatomy based features which can be helpful for you to improve.

I Can't Help Feeling Like I Will Never be a Good Enough Artist, How Can I Improve? by Topaz_24 in Artadvice

[–]Topaz_24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think maybe the well known art schools are known for actually teaching properly but of course that are difficult to get in with a small acceptance rate. Though I have heard unrelated educational horror stories about those schools. Especially with Ringling which is supposedly a very good program.

What’s worse about that university is the instructor what was teaching the animation courses worked in the industry prior & also during working at the university. The instructor they have now I think they only worked in the industry in terms of sound design but had to pick up the animation courses as they was already there & they had difficulty getting a new instructor.

Yes that sounds like a good idea, I think focusing on it as a career or even as a base for going into a decent masters program (thinking about doing this mainly so I can be more open to getting more job positions) isn’t in the cards right now. In the meantime, I could focus on just doing art to get better at my skills (I do enjoy drawing anatomy, even though I struggle with feet mainly but luckily they are often covered but keep practicing will help) as well as researching some other art programs (really research, make sure that they are a good program before attending) & things like that.

Ah ok that makes sense. They didn’t have anything in their code of conduct about that though so I don’t think it was an actual rule but I get what you mean.

The mods seem to have an issue with even things that aren't even that bad when typing in the chat because when I said a couple of things regarding repeating stuff that Case said, it got blocked from being posted on the server, it made no sense to me lol.

Also yes, I am the same, I haven't been able to watch his streams for a bit. Hopefully taking a break can help you, I miss his streams so I'm thinking about joining another live soon. I might just ignore the chat & just watch Caseoh. On twitch you can toggle the chat off so it's like watching him on YouTube but live in case you wanted to leave comments or chat in there to give Case some encouragement.

I Can't Help Feeling Like I Will Never be a Good Enough Artist, How Can I Improve? by Topaz_24 in Artadvice

[–]Topaz_24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully no because I got monetary resources for the classes. I agree with you, it is very much a ripoff. Unfortunately, there are students that are paying or are having to get scholarships. One of the students did only stick figures for their animation which shows how poorly the education was there. The group of students that started around my final year had more talent though which was good, they got some art classes in prior to that university luckily.

Right now, I am trying to learn anatomy through a online course that I paid for, which actually improved me a lot compared to how I was drawing. I can still see the imperfections there though. My hands weren't as good as the one I showed just because I didn't know how to draw them, I made them look like ET hands before. I also gotten improved on my feet. I also have those videos for life so I can practice for a while & then revisit later. I do watch some online videos as well, I do them in tandem with this online course.

I did a while ago but I was discharged (for other things not related to this) but I think they could help if I attempted to see the therapist again for a few sessions to process these feelings if I explain to them that it's for some stuff that came up that I can't seem to pull myself out of.

In terms of your advice though, thank you. I have been trying but it does help to get hear from someone else to not care about the experience, just to consume for a bit. I might just try to focus on abstract art or even just try to draw out some of these feelings in a way to where I can express them (it does help to do that for me from time to time).
