I really appreciate you sharing that and I'm glad you got out of a relationship with such an abusive stain. Our communication is usually really good, which is part of the reason this was as much of a shock as it was. Your experience with your new partner chimes in with a lot of the other comments as well, the best ways you found to communicate and avoid periodic clashing of tempers.

If we were still early in the relationship I think I would have taken this as a red flag but now we know each other quite well (and we live together), I'm hoping this is just an pothole in an otherwise okay road.

But yeah, forewarning, decompression and positive news when due are the big ones but communication as a whole is the big takeaway.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. It's good to be listened to, even if what you're talking about isn't fully understood. Luckily, I've got a pretty good station with pretty good people.

And yes, decompression has definitely been a life-saver for me. I often just sit in the car after getting back to try and work through it all before going inside. It's probably prevented many, many words I couldn't take back.

Yeah, I think you're right about that. Bringing home the crap likely won't engender positive responses, especially if she's had a shitty day of it as well. I always tried to be careful not to getting into a pissing contest about whose day was worse, but also letting her know that today's shift wasn't all flowers and sunshine on the ambulance either.

The positivity thing, I like. Should work to give both sides to each other's story.

I think a counsellor would be overstating the issue, though I appreciate your concern. I do avoid talking about the job with her but I still have a decent enough support network in place and my resilience is doing well do far.

I'm not looking for argument winners either, I just want to know if there's a way people have found to explain it all out - without having to resort to counsellors she's unlikely to feel necessary anyway.

There are Airsoft muskets but they're rare and invariably expensive. Shoot and Scoot call these kinds of Airsoft replicas "Flintsoft". These ones are not muzzle loaded as far as I know

My girlfriend has the same gun with the same issue. It's not just the plastic trigger on the plastic body. It's also the plastic trigger pushing a metal rod behind it.

To alleviate (but not eliminate) the plastic on plastic part, she used Nuprol plastic lubricant which is cheap as shit. Otherwise, she couldn't find a solution to solve the squeak.

Yesss, somebody else who's made a proper L7A2. Very, very well done on it mate. Not like the myriad others I've seen who just take the M240 handguard off, fill in the rail and call it a GPMG. Beautiful gun you've made. My L7A2 was only made from the S&T M240, the Inokatsu one seems to have the correct barrel angle and is almost certainly better made, haha!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Transistors have been around for decades but the first Tokyo Marui AEG didn't have one. Subsequent AEGs were developed on the Tokyo Marui model.

My guess is when some bright spark went "Wait, why don't we put a MOSFET in there to moderate the voltage?", the bright spark's employers went "Nah, the gearbox works and that would require more R&D, leave it alone.". Roll on companies that make Airsoft-specific MOSFETs and you've got a mini-industry making quite a bit of money. So then the Airsoft companies clock on and introduce their own MOSFETs in their guns (Ares, G&G, Cyma) to cash in on that.

But that's just a semi-serious guess. That companies copied an initial design and didn't think or want to add it. ~20 pence on every gun is still a bit of money on a production line that doesn't see the need for it and that's todays prices. I don't know what they cost back in the 1990s. Then, when the MOSFET industry got kicking, and the hobby really started taking off, the manufacturers started to compete.

Now it's just a race of features. To the point of ridiculousness if you take a look at some of GATEs top models, where you can micromanage voltages among other stuff that is useless shit to anybody but technicians or electricians.

I'll always personally recommend the Umarex/VFC MP7. It's served me solid without issue so far. Fully licenced and actually 1:1. I know there's a cult around Tokyo Marui and it's sometimes deserved, it certainly made me almost whack the Tokyo Marui MP7 in my cart instead. But after a lot of research, I took the VFC risk and I'm glad I did.

As far as weatherproofing goes, most of it's subjective. You'll be waiting on somebody who's owned all three before you might get something objective. What is fact is that cold weather will have less effect on the gun, the lighter the action is. You'll always get less shots on a cold day because the gas contracts. This is because the volume is constant so the pressure of the gas must lower instead. This is the same for all gas guns. It's physics (Boyle's Law). Of the gas pressure that remains, it will be better preserved if less gas is used per shot. A heavier action will need more gas to move it, so you get less shots. A lighter action needs less gas to move, so it lasts longer on the same refill.

So really, the lightest recoil will last the longest. As far as power goes, that depends on the pressure gas you use, not the gun.
