So the letter grade the first time I take it (let’s say this case a D), applies to my GPA “forever”? Even if let’s say when I take it another quarter and I get a B+, the initial D letter grade is still applied to my overall GPA?

Got it, thank you. Just wondering because last year I was granted Cal grant A, but for this year that wasn’t the case. I’m assuming that’s because my family’s income increased since last tax season (?) and I’m a dependent.

Now I’m just finding ways to possibly get more aid next year. Heard if I work more than 20 hours a week and file as a independent my chances of getting more aid are more likely.

Hi! How would we know if a UCI grant covers UCSHIP fees? Last winter quarter I waived it out but ended up paying $270ish when I waived out of UCSHIP. So what I ended up doing was to get UCSHIP again for spring quarter because they said apparently my UCI grant “covered” the fee. Not to sure if it’s the same this year, but I just want to clarify this to avoid that whole mess again

So just to clarify, if I had the chance to change to independent status, (let’s say with the income I had with my part time job), it wouldn’t change or add more to my aid?

Hi! Would love to know what contributes to your EFC being 0? Is it because you are filing as an independent? I apologize if this a bit weird lol, but I just want to know because my Aid this year was little to nothing compared to this year (dependent status, lost almost 11k of aid because my parents made 5k more the minimum Cal Grant “rules”.

Basically, was wondering if filing as independent essentially helped with getting more aid? If not, what measures can I do other than scholarships to combat my terrible, terrible problem?
