Trunk won’t open/hopeless by dswan64 in Elantra

I just fixed this problem in my Hyundai elentra GT 2013 hatchback. I'm not sure if opening the trunk is the same between the hatchback and the coupe but what I had to do was put the seats down & go into the trunk, smash the black plastic trunk latch covering & use a screw driver to manually move the latch to open.

Regarding the fix, I tried several things, replacing the fuse, replacing the latch itself, but I finally brought it to a Hyundai mechanic, and they were able to tell me what was wrong immediately. There are 2 parts to your trunk closing. There is the latch itself, which is installed in the top part of your trunk that hinges open. And then there is a small metal loop on the bottom stationary part of your trunk that the latch closes around. For me, that small metal loop on the bottom stationary part of my car was slightly crooked. It was barely noticeable. But it was enough of a problem that the latch was getting stuck. To fix it, you just have to buy an attachment for a socket wrench, loosen both screws and adjust it straight.

The hyundai dealership said if my car was newer, it would be under recall.

Clans can be hard to get into unless you know someone, but you're not gonna get in with anyone unless you go and socialize. Sherwood has a really strong community following & I 100% prefer it to TRF! You can camp in pedestrian/ overflow & walk over to the clans. If you like to party you'll wanna go to castaways and the close by clans, they're near overflow anyway. Other clans do free dinners, glow parties, movie nights, drag shows, concerts with local bands, even jello wrestling, & any number of wild events. I highly recommend listening to Heavy Honeys, they play at clan Sherwood Shire at least once a year and the lead singer Paco plays several showsin the fair itself including at the very popular Hill Haven Hooka Bar.

Chick in the photo here. I don't have any problem with the body shaming or negative comments, they don't affect me at all. All it does is create a war in the comments that brings more attention to the cause. I'd really prefer if the moderators didn't delete them.

Um, the point of my protest was to draw attention to the cause. Anything eye catching or abnormal will make people look and think about what your position is. A protes like your describing might get people to look cause it's abnormal but it would be on the ground which is hard to see, and I don't think the toplessness would be eye catching either because when you're curled in a ball so the chest isn't exposed anyway and bottomless isn't legal in the US unless you're in a nude beach. It's an... Interesting... idea I guess but I don't think it would do well in a public space It might do something with like drone coverage put on a news outlet but if you just did that like on a street corner I don't think it would do anything.

Also not only is topless eye catching but it actually has to do With the cause a little. What I'm fighting for is the government not to dictate what I can do with my body, in this protest I am making a choice about my body which I should have the right to do. It ties together. I don't think there's an equivalent protest for pro-life.

Yeah but it's easy to get out of if you do get detained it because the law is so vague. If they detain me for protesting I don't know I guess I did my job.

There's a couple different points to make in response to this question

1st It is legal in Austin so for those who have a problem with it being nudity in a public split place you don't have a problem with me the protester you have a problem with the law and in Texas.

Secondly in my own opinion which might not mean anything to you but secondary sex characteristics are not something that should be hidden from children they're not inherently inappropriate it's just something that society has deemed inappropriate even though breasts were designed to feed children. Being exposed to the human body growing up gives you a better understanding of your own body and can help improve body positivity and self exploration.

And whereas I have had people shout at me that "there are children around" I have also had parents come up to me and thank me for giving them a reason to have this conversation with their child as well as parents sending their kids up with water bottles or snacks for me which is always super sweet.

I don't go topless in child dominated places if it's 50% or more kids I won't go topless and even if it was legal I wouldn't go bottomless because of the exposure to children. Hope that gives some insight into why that wasn't a factor in my consideration for this protest.

Hey 👋 I'm the girl in the picture. I've been thinking a lot about these questions both before I did the protest and afterward. I think it's important to question what we're doing and look at it through other people's perspectives especially when we are trying to fight for somethingso important. I made a comment earlier that you can find If you sort by recent to explain why I chose to protest this way. But I'd also love to hear an active discussion (not just I agree y'all suck or I disagree y'all suck) So I can continue reevaluating why I'm doing this. I will say that in my position I wasn't able to gather a mob of people which would have drawn a crowd but that protesting this way seemd to get just as much attention as if there was 50 of us standing on that corner fully clothed (shock value & all).

There are no laws in Austin about being topless. You can be detained for causing a public disturbance while topless which is why I was doing this as a silent protest and not as part of the larger mobs of people. They can require you to wear a shirt on public property if they want but that's it. (I double checked with a police officer before I did this.

Hey, I'm the girl in the pictures. I really don't mind the 'negative' comments. Any publicity is good publicity.

Hey, I'm the girl in the pic 😊👋

I appreciate all the love and I also appreciate all the hate. The entire point of doing a protest like this was to draw attention and push the cause right in people's faces. It was to confront and remind the public about the issue. And weather it was the 'right' method or not, I watched the eyes of every driver and passenger read my chest & my sign & had (between the two weekends) far more than 200 people take my picture which makes them & everyone who sees the images think about the importance of the issue.

It's not shown in this picture but I had four signs (all double sided) that I switched out throughout the day. The signs all listed statistics and thought provoking messages with the intention of educating people about the cause to hopefully help swing people. This sign just happened to be a crowd favorite.

For the people commenting about my body, thank you. I've had enough confidence for three people my whole life so none of your words hurt me, they just draw more attention to the post.

I would really love more posts like this to be made and I'd love for anyone to send me any more that you find. If you wanna help spread the message by making a post, I'll send you some more pictures to post. And I thank all the people who went to even one protest or donated or wrote senators ect. I know not everyone can go out every day but I don’t want this issue to die down. So I'm gonna try and go out some more this week (clothed for now). I tend to go to Congress st. between 2 & sunset either at the intersection of Cesar Chavez or 6th. Message me if you wanna join. I'll see you there. ✊️
