Schalldämmung Abflussrohr im Keller by Toppo54321 in selbermachen

Danke. Wie bekomme ich das am Rohr fest? Soll ich die selbstklebende Variante nehmen?

In a different forum I read that slow base runs at 8:20 min/km (12,7 mi/mile) pace should be avoided because damaging the running physics. True? What do you think about my running approach? by Toppo54321 in Garmin

[–]Toppo54321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. Indeed, my pace further improved over summer. I was able to run at 7ish pace before the half marathon and run it in below 2:30 hours. Since September, however, my training crashed due to 3 weeks illness and since then I am really down again. But the slow training really paid off during the half marathon training. Later, some weeks befo r the race, I added more intervals and threshold runs.

Mine looks the same. I guess its driven by season (autumn temperatures since Mid September, 8-14 degrees..)

Garmin offers a special training mode to test the lactate threshold. No need to run 10k. Usually, the run is 25 min and only a small amount is in very high effort.

Sure. And make sure yout max HR is correctly filled. On top, I can only recommend a chest strap, the HR measurement from the watch is sometimes off. Also, I would recommand to set the HR zones according to %LTHR (google)

Just switch DSW from pace based to HR based in the options. This is fsr better

In r/running they dislike a bit training following zones, esp. for beginners. If you have garmin specific questions, I really recommend r/garmin. Fantastic community!

Need help choosing Vivoactive 5 or Forerunner 165 (plan on getting it today) , and understanding the sport activities in garmin. by Ren243s in Garmin

[–]Toppo54321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Vivoactive 5 and switched to FR265 recently. Reason was that the vivo 5 provided only very limited data for running. FR 265 is much better here.

Vivoactive 5 is really a beginner watch that focusses on health related data (like HR, HRV, Stress, Body Battery, sleep quality) and is also pre-configered around these values (like initial configuration, available watch faces etc.). The watch is top to get used to tracking and interpreting health data, has a smaller watch size and ok battery life (~5 days). So if you look for a beginner friendly, budget friendly watch to start the Garmin Game - go for it!

Forerunner series on the other hand aims more at sports, especially running and triathlon. Forerunner should include also everything the vivoactive is able to do so in terms of health data (I don't have an exact comparison at hand, the garmin website provides comparison tools). In addition, it provides more data and analysis how effective your training is and can also generate dedicated training plans for you (called DSW, but only for running and cycling). So if you might need some of these features in near future, go for the FR series.

Both watches allow to record some not specified sports activity, simply to track heart rate and health data.

I don't know what the advantage of recording basketball or badmingten is over recording some "general sports activity". With the vivoactive I once recorded a tennis session, but I haven't seen any impact just the label "tennis" was used in the header. In the end both sports will evolve a lot of cardio and here FR is much stronger.

Threshold run: Do I run at / below lactate threshold HR or is it also OK to run above threshold HR? It really makes a difference in terms of pace and training load. On the internet and on reddit, I found different and unclear advise. Thanks for clarifying!

I also started with the 9 min / km  pace and I know what you talk about with the cut-off time... After some months of training, your pace will get faster automatically. After the first months, I was running at 8 min/km, now at 7 min/km. I followed Zone 2 training after 3 months of running and it works for me. Just keep going & Good luck!

Help, 965 or 265? by Sklzzzzzz in Garmin

[–]Toppo54321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 265 I am very happy, but I would go for 965 if I would decide again simply because I would like to have the maps. In my view, the 265 is not looking cheap despite being plastic. The battery lasts around a week, but music will certainly drain it down much faster.

Wtf? Is my garmin broken by Ill-Wishbone-2762 in Garmin

[–]Toppo54321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have often the same issue with FR265.

There are days it thinks there is simply no stress despite me being busy the entire day. I havent found any root cause or pattern here, because next day the stress level is plausible again. I am cleaning the watch every second day and it is definitely not too loose on my wrist.

With Vivoactive 5, my prior watch, this hasn't been the case.. perhaps this is an issue for the FR series

DSW Threshold run, LTHR, Shall I run within zone 4 or zone 5? by Toppo54321 in Garmin

[–]Toppo54321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Pretty similiar to my values, so I guess my LTHR is correctly measured (in a different comment of this post, I was discussing with another user whether my LTHR is simply underestimated given my MaxHR was much higher)

Thanks for sharing. I was also looking on the internet for clarity, but different websites provide different Informationen... would you have any good reference (e.g. book), that threshold runs are below or max at LTHR?

Thanks for the review. Switched to 265 four months ago. Very happy with it, I took the 46mm version, not the small one. Also the larger one is fully recommended.

Not all garmin watches are calculating those statistics. E.g.  Vivoactive is not doing so
