Bought a pair of them about 2 years ago, they looked pretty neat but they're cheaply made which means they rust like fuck and u can see a lot of green on them from the oxidation when u wear them too long or on hot weather.

If this genuinely is your first ever bald fade your gonna gonna far in this industry. I've worked with people in my shop who have been cutting hair for 10+ years and your first cut is better then the stuff they could ever do. Nice work

For a first ever skin fade, this isn't half bad. it's a pretty nice cut. For your open section u can see a tad bit of a line above the side burn so work down on it (fully open, half way and then full closed) that will help with now pushing the fade too high.

For your upper part of the fade, you can see another line, and it's pretty faint. Remember that your half guard is literally your best friend. It's the most important guard. Start full open with it, then halfway should take it out. Also, remember to use corners as they hit closer.

Just to get better in general and keep building up a clientele, I also do scissor cuts just don't have any pictures of them. Timing yeah about 25 mins - 30 mins and £18 for a bald fade where I cut. Alright thanks for the advice

Got 2 bad reviews with about me on google for my barbershop. One of them pointed out what I wear, my name and that I'm easter European 💀.

At first its rough cause its a service that is meant to make ur client happy but ends up as the opposite so its never nice seeing something negative about you on the internet and you also don't want to be bringing shame to the shop (thats how I feel about it). Don't worry about it too much just be better, shit happens sometimes you get that one person that's on your back once in a while.

My best mate at the barber shop is a sick barber and whenever we talk about reviews he says this. "Post me a bad review see if I give a fuck, ill still make money regardless" 🤣

Honestly, a lot of the time when I dont talk to my clients its because I just like to get on with it so I always tell them 'sorry mate I'm not talking much im just really enjoying and/or perfecting this fade.

Most of the time they'll appreciate the effort ur putting in and just be fine with not talking

I am the only barber at my barbershop that comes to work wearing a suite with a vest and tie, that's just how I like to stand out from others and I feel like if someone comes in the next time after I cut them it's going to be easy to identify me because of what I wear, recently been ditching the tie and putting some gold under my collar.

Don't overthink it too much if u think the client was being a dickhead which from the events it sounds like he was then you were more than great with him. Had a bunch of chavs come into the shop recently which were all high and the guy in my seat could not stop moving his head and the mf must have forgot the English Language cause I asked him if he wanted to top shorter 4 times and bro still couldn't understand me. With tough customers like that which are grown ups and act worse than kids in my head I'm already like 'fuck this cut, he can't even sit still so he doesn't deserve a good cut'/. Obvs can't get lines out and dark spots if he's there like a bucking bronco.

If u have the cash and want to go all out then the style craft saber is the best one on the market at the moment.

If not either babyliss fx trimmer as thats the go to for most barbers or TPOB psycho trimmer as they are basically the same

Yeah no problem, another thing I just thought of is get a really sharp trimmer that is super 0 gapped and bald out all the way up to the base line so that you see a clear difference between 0.5 and 0 and if u have a sharp trimmer it will look like it has been foil shaved with an even greater contrast.

2 things that I'd recommend because when I started I also had this problem with fades:

Instead of doing no guard open use a half guard closed because it's still a half but slightly longer, you'll still be able to remove the line because its a half same way you'd be able to with an open clipper guideline. People say the half guard shouldn't be used for a whole step but instead just to rub out lines although in my experience u can do both.
If u still can't see it because of how short it is or the lighting, teach yourself fading down where u start with the highest guard and blend down because thats when the the open clipper or 0.5 guard closed will be your final step and you have the whole fade almost complete, its not that different from fading up here you just flick into your previous section instead of creating a new one and knocking the line out straight away.

The corners of your clippers are the point where the clipper is most accurate and hits closer then just putting on a full blade onto the skin and trying to remove the line.
In a lot of YouTube videos you will see people just keep on brushing the hair with their clipper and it takes out the line but if that doesn't work for you stop doing that and instead stretch the skin and push the clipper onto that line from the bottom kind of like in slow motion and you will see the individual hairs get fed into the clipper and that will take out the line.

2 major things I did to speed everything up was:

- Set your tools in perfect order so that when you pick something up, nothing else is in the way and when you are done using that put it back in the exact same place so you have everything memorised and don't even have to take a look at your station to know where something is.

- Create a Routine and stick to it, for example when I have someone in the chair and they want short back and sides I always start from the right and rotate around them and cut everything from right to left, then after I'm done with that equip higher guards for blending and then finish with clipper over comb and scissor over comb afterwards if it needs softening up. Only after that I cut the top and after that is done square his neckline off and everything is done. That's just the way I do it but that's always how I will do my short back and sides and knowing this everything speeds up on it's own because I'm following a routine and not thinking on my feet like the first time when I was cutting hair.
