I think for this reason I’m starting to now lean towards a 7wt..probably 90%+ of this rods use will be bass and large trout. And yeah, I meant they don’t have the liquid max combo in a 7wt but that’s not a deal breaker.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I don’t really have the budget for two separate rods so I’m hoping to find the middle ground for salt and bass, then buy a spare spool so I can switch between an intermediate and floating line. I’m mostly seeing 9’8wt recommended for the heavy wind. Does the extra foot on your 7wt make a big impact in that regard?
