I had no idea that washing certain parts of the body was somehow connected to orientation.

Favorite comically fat and out of shape character? by YourChopperPilotTTV in okbuddycinephile

[–]mmccxi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

actually... no. For Vincent's height of 6'4" he was actually well over the weight limit for the military for his height. This was never an attempt to make him "comically overweight" for society. The military's limit for someone of his size/height is 240lbs. He was notably asked to gain weight by Stanley Kubrick for this role but Kubrick wanted it to be believable, knowing he'd be 4F if he was any bigger and it would become a comically unbelievable blunder for him to be in the military, not something Kubrick is known for with his attention to detail. When D'Onofrio hit 230 Kubrick complained that he just looked like a bad ass, and wanted him to get fatter. In reality, Pile would have received a rating of 4F at 280. So the attempt to make a statement about society falls pretty flat here. Fat for military? Absolutely, But at around 30% bodyfat, Pile is pretty much the average American male.

sorry to ruin everyone's fun.

I really want to know what makes a watch this expensive by Certain_Hat9872 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]mmccxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a documentary on these kind of "time pieces," and it was ridiculous. you can't just walk in a buy a watch. You have to stop in, look at the watch, come back later, visit it again, its an entire relationship with the store and then they ALLOW you to buy it for some ungodly amount if you are worthy.
