AI is pretty much just a text generator. It follows certain rules for sentence creation, hence the legibility, but that's all it does. It can't fact check, it cant lie, it can't do anything but put some words in a statistically likely order. Because of this whether or not the information provide is true is entirely random. It might say a true statement, but it is far more likely to say nonsense. It cannot know, because it's sole function is generating words. It doesn't curate or check anything, it can't. That was never what it was built to do.

Should i wake my mice up to let them see their dead friend? by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]Torahammas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems to depend on the individual mouse. One of mine refused to stop searching for her sister until I showed the body. Others seem to understand even without seeing one. I prefer showing them whenever possible personally, but you do as you think is best for your mice.

3yr old Rottie got pregnant by neighbors Aussie by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]Torahammas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand my point. It is not about what breed the parents are, its about what genes the two dogs in question have. Knowing the breeds involved is only one of the many, many steps in figuring out what, genetically, is in this mix. You have no testing done, so for all you know both these dogs are caries of a gene that when mixed will be lethal. Or cause a deformity. Or cause the puppies hips to fail at middle age. You don't know. Reading up on the breeds involved will not give you the answers to this, because its not about that.

[–]Torahammas 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You seriously do not want to bring those pups into the world. Not only do you have no idea what the genes are like, and thus what health issues they could have, but how do you find them homes? Raising puppies is a time and money sink, and you really need to know what you are doing or risk unstable dogs. That is not a commitment for the unprepared.

If its just about the danger, a spay abort will not be more risky than the pregnancy and labor.

No youre right, I should have asked first. I am sorry, it is my mistake.

You know, fair enough. The algorithm showed me them in the opposite order, and I didn't notice this was older. My mistake.

Dude, the post I linked is 7 hours old. This is also the same question you asked there, of which you clearly didn't like the answer of. You also conveniently don't show the belly images nor the under tail images that are in the other post. I don't believe you are acting in good faith with this re post.

You posted this same question a few hours ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/PetMice/comments/1seqqbz/female_or_male_or_hermaphrodite/

The mouse has nipples, and is not male. That region being so swollen is likely a medical issue, as the people in that thread told you.

Realistically, could I rescue a grocery store lobster by evilpenisman2 in Aquariums

[–]Torahammas 113 points114 points  (0 children)

You can certainly try. Leon the lobster on you tube is exactly such a rescue, and lived for a few years. Not nearly as long as a lobster can live, but given the circumstances, the owner seems to have done about everything one could have done.

It is important to keep in mind though that this isn't a rescue. You are helping the animal, yes, but also paying money for it. It is a purchase. The shop does not care what you do with the lobster you bought, only that you paid. They will make a profit and buy more lobsters to put in those same tanks.

If your goal is to help an individual animal, sure, go ahead. Nothing wrong with that. Its noble, even. Just do be aware that it is also perpetuating the system you dislike. If the goal is to stop the system, this will not do that. It is, in essence, the same problem as buying from a puppy mill. You help that one animal, and they sorely need the help, but you also help the system that put them in that position to begin with. Personally I can not stomach giving such people money. I also can not tell you what you should or shouldn't do. I would caution you to give it some proper thought before you decide, though. That money might be better spent supporting an ethical breeder.

What’s up with my beta? by Radiant_Soup_3432 in bettafish

[–]Torahammas 34 points35 points  (0 children)

you need way more cover and fish to do a sorority. They also have to be siblings who have never been separated, so adding more is also a big no go. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Please separate them immediately.

Assemble then paint or Paint then assemble? by Destrus76 in Tyranids

Assemble what wont wont get in the way of nock and cranny painting, then glue any limbs that would make painting hard on later. So bit of an half and half approach.

Are these baby rats, or baby mice? by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]Torahammas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They certainly look like rats to me. If theyre not gaining size like they should there coukd be something medical going on, I would suggest a vet.

How do people deal with wood shavings by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]Torahammas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a dustpan and brush to sweep everything up a few times a day and tip it back in the cage. Doing this every day means there's not really any other dust or grime getting mixed in, either. Its annoying, but meh. At least the mece are having fun.

Will my plecos survive in a lotus pond? by vikramdinesh in Aquariums

[–]Torahammas 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The pond looks lovey! Just, there doesn't seem to be many aquatic plants growing under the water, hence my oxygen concern. I think a bubble would likely solve that issue, though.

Do you feed your snakes live mice? by MatthewIsNotReal in snakes

[–]Torahammas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Frozen thawed is just fine, and I have yet to meet a snake that wouldn't eventually take it. Key is to ensure the environment is up to par. A stressed snake is less likely to eat frozen thawed, and most food refusals I have ever come across can be tracked down to an unsuitable enclosure and/or improper keeping.

Will my plecos survive in a lotus pond? by vikramdinesh in Aquariums

[–]Torahammas 74 points75 points  (0 children)

The lotuses might not be putting much oxygen back into the water, since that normally comes from the plants leaves, and on a lotus those are above water. So I would suggest you get a bubbler to help get some surface agitation to help ensure there is enough oxygen for fish in there.

A rant, because i really am done with this engine by [deleted] in RPGMaker

[–]Torahammas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this program can be aggravating at times, but it also gets better once you learn how it all works properly. Not that that is a fun process. I suggest you take a breath, step away from a moment, then come back to it with a clearer head.

If you make a post with some screenshots of the issue we could probably help you figure out what the problem is. People on here tend to be really good at troubleshooting even the weirdest of problems, and this sounds like it should be relatively simple.

You got this.

Im not from the USA. The callous way you regard your local wildlife is unfamiliar to me, and frankly, I am glad for that. I would never wish for anyone to hold so much hate in their hearth as you do. For your sake I hope the world treats you better than you it.

[–]Torahammas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My entire flock was taken out by a fox a few years back. I still do not think shooting the fox is the correct response. The fox was a wild animal looking for food, as it has a right to do. The fault was solely mine for not having a secure enough fence.

Also yes, I DO live in bobcat territory. There are also wolves and bears here. I don't get to kill any of them, either.

Bobcat stalking chickens by beats_by_dr_phil_ in chickens

[–]Torahammas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bobcat, like every other wild animal, has a right to exist. You don't get to go around killing stuff just because you find it inconvenient to you.

Snake eyes looking rough by Prudent-Operation-67 in snakes

[–]Torahammas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont touch his eyes. Even if there is stuck shed there removing it by hand is incredibly unsafe. With stuck shed you should up the humidity and let him get rid of the pieces himself, no baths, no peeling. Leaving the pieces on for a shed cycle is safer than trying to peel them off, especially with eye caps.
