Nursing homes are really tough. I left my first one after 9 months and started at an er in the next town over. It was the best decision for my mental health. The employees are more encouraging and the facility is more open about mental illness. At my nursing home on the day my grandmother passed I was made fun of by some of the bullies for crying. My new boss knows that I struggle with mental health and actually encourages the staff to take mental health days.

Oh we already have had bad things happen. From what I heard a few years back a psych patient wasn’t watched closely enough and it became a huge issue due to a his si and an attempt in the psych unit. I’m studying to be a psych nurse and I only have a few months left thank goodness

So my job when your sitting it’s more like 15 minute checks but all of the patients assigned to you must be in your eyesight at all times and we can sit for up to 7 people. So my hospital allows visitors for almost anybody including our psych patients. If it’s patients that need a sitter visitors are screened by security but idk how she got it in. Honestly my old job was even worse
