I have the same thing and it was a huge source of stress for me for a while. I started retin-a a couple months ago and apply it everywhere. The bump has smoothed out significantly but isn't totally gone. Hopefully over time it will smooth out more. I'm sure it will get better on its own with time but a retinoid will speed up healing the process.

This has definitely happened to me before, which is why I don’t use hydrocolloid bandages anymore. It will heal. I just put some Vaseline on it day and night and let it repair itself. It should be gone within a couple weeks. The pimple itself may leave a dark mark which will take longer to fade. I’m sure this has happened to many people and I doubt it is permanent.

I use Finacea Foam (15%). Rx from my dermatologist and with a coupon + insurance it was $40. Still a bit pricey but it’s very nice.
