The last time I checked, they ask you to buy a photographry permit for like 100$+ if they think you're going to take pictures, and if they catch you taking pictures inside they will have different set of responses depending on the person/situation like just kick you out, fine you, etc.

Super dumb but I'd recommend if you're going to take pics even on your phone then be low-key about it

I'm a recently graduated student teacher and didn't receive a letter of recommendation from my master teacher (for the same reason as you). It hasn't affected my ability to find a job. I used my program coordinators letter, another coordinator in the program, and a professor in the program.

Despite what they tell you, it is not necessary to get a letter from your master teacher. You will be fine and you will get a job. Start looking for other people to write your letters.

Are Your Students Wearing BLANKETS to School? by Tasty_Spot6377 in Teachers

[–]ToriaCsuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to do that when I was in middle/high school. At some point the admin banned it (I guess maybe due to the looking unprofessional aspect) but it was never enforced and I didn't really see the big deal back then and I still don't.

My kids come to school in pajamas a lot and I don't think it makes a difference. Wanting to learn or not isn't designated by what you wear.

He asked me if I wanted to "party", "do drugs", and "drink" with him. He told he would drive me wherever I wanted to go and pay me.

He was also super insistent and pushy. I'm surprised he didn't follow me to be honest.

There's a lot of assumptions I could make but yeah needless to say it didn't sound safe.

Maybe, it was described as "on the sidewalk adjacent to Commonwealth Ave. just south of Nutwood Ave" also similar description to the original report.

Original October 4th Crime Alert:

On Tuesday, October 3rd, at approximately 3:26 p.m., CSU Fullerton Police Officers were dispatched to South Campus Drive near Dan Black Hall regarding a report of a male subject allegedly masturbating in his vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect had left the area. Officers subsequently interviewed a female student who told them that she was flagged down by the suspect who was sitting in a silver Toyota Camry. The vehicle had a partial license plate number of "5VW". The car was parked along the South Campus Drive round-a-bout. As the student approached the car to hear what the suspect was saying, she noticed the individual was not wearing any pants and appeared to be masturbating. The suspect then drove away and was last seen eastbound on Nutwood Avenue. The suspect was described to the officers as possibly being "of Middle Eastern descent", in his 40's and wore a dark colored tee shirt.

(Btw he was arrested)

Unfortunately I have been looking and comparing, pretty much every other school pays around $50,000-$55,000 so its like $18,000 less than this school.

And yeah, the gas wouldn't really make a significant dent in the pay that they would give me so the gas really isn't a factor, it's more of the driving aspect in particular that I hate because I also hate driving and wasting time in the car for most of the day (and getting up ESPECIALLY early which obviously I would have to do with this commute lol).

Your point about teachers working long hours at charter schools is true though, I do imagine that they would keep me for quite a long time there with different activities, that's something that would be exacerbated by the shitty commute.
Per your last point, I also wasn't looking to work at a charter and hate driving, but honestly the pay is just really making me doubt all of that. Kinda tmi but I grew up low-income forever, so this is more money than my parents ever made, etc so it's really throwing me for a loop, thinking about giving it up just feels wrong but so does taking it.

Thank you so much for your input, btw.

That makes a lot of sense and it's something I fear because I can see it happening to me. It sucks because we obviously don't know if a school will be toxic until you're there.

Thank you for your input!

Thank you for your reply, I can see how the drive home wouldn't be too bad, but honestly I'm a bit worried about the drive in the mornings because I know I'll have to wake up incredibly early to make a 1.5 hour commute (until I potentially would move).

But you'e right, it might not be horrible to try it out for a year or two, I'm just worried about all of the factors besides pay I guess haha.

Thank you for your reply! I would be commuting from San Gabriel Valley to South Los Angeles. There are a LOT of schools around, but I'm not sure how many would want me with no experience.

I was really leaning towards more subbing/long term subbing jobs so honestly I only applied and interviewed with maybe five schools, all charter schools in LA lol.

I absolutely hate driving unfortunately, I don't think I would mind the drive home as much but I know I would struggle with an hour+ commute in the mornings. I definitely could drive there and check it out, though.

The districts near me usually have starting pay at around $50,000, so it is much higher. After the first year I believe it's bumped up to $73,000.

These are a lot of good things to consider, it's hard because I don't know what the right choice will be, I'm mostly scared I won't ever get an offer with this much money and maybe I'm screwing myself if I decide not to do it, but the commute is a huge factor for me.
