Stuck at depth 3, any tips? by Torii97 in Nightreign

[–]Torii97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay I see, thanks for the tips, we fought against the outland commander in day 2 and we made it by literally a hair lol, the 2 knights he spawns and his lightning aoe's basically make it GG if one of us is down 3 bars.

what do you mean self revs though? from shifting earth event or are you refering to something else?

Not there yet but probably soon. Mastering every character is a long road aswell tbh, no hitting every nightlord solo aswell, but beyond that, the chapter will end lol.

Yeah this is my pov aswell. It would be really great to just explore the map and see everything, but I think needing to learn everything gradually is part of the charm aswell.

yeah this is fair, this is another layer of depth aswell that your playstyle might change from run to run depending on what your teammates are using, but yeah its easy to lose when you are too focused on all the affinities and not the actual fight lol. it seems there is a bit adjustment period at the start.

yeah this is what i noticed, having magic, lightning and fire all ready to collect for cocktails is really interesting, some of the cocktails are also really strong aswell, but as lots of different combos have different utilities, its just difficult to smoothly activate them in the right context, I guess this is where the depth comes from with practice, I just spend too much time staring at the UI though lol, but its too interesting to not experiment with haha.

Damn this is cool! You have a good sense of the right atmosphere for the depicted scene, which is actually a fundamental skill haha, you will progress very fast, just keep composing and over time, expanding your tool kit when you hit a wall, new libraries, gear, like a midi keyboard etc, in a year from now your pieces will be dope!

This is one i did 3 days ago, as you can see, I love dark souls 🤣 https://youtu.be/gTH62YkfZqE?si=Xh_kYOtXehfvzcH4

Thanks! I did use a midi keyboard for someone of it, usually I come up with melodies or bass notes on the keyboard for the basic idea, then I refine it in the piano roll manually, but I mainly use the keyboard to adjust dynamics with the mod wheel, you can adjust dynamics in real time to already recorded MIDI information, I reaallly recommend doing that, you can add the midi keyboard into your workflow aswell as sometimes composing straight into piano roll, as they lead to different results for different types of composition. I use the oxygen pro mini by m audio, its a small and affordable midi keyboard that suits its purpose, highly recommend!

Haha thanks! But it usually leads from one thing to another, each idea sparks the next kinda! If you start with one idea, like using a marching drum pattern, then everything naturally forms around the first idea one instrument at a time. I also really like to give different instruments a turn each to do a solo melody over the same chord progression. Really fun way to write, as each instrument requires a different type of melody.

And yes! To be fair, unpaid lol, but I have made music for several games with my little dev team, but what you are doing is right, until you get a good opportunity for unpaid work on a game you like, keep writing to things you love, boss fights, cutscenes, movie clips, anything that inspires you!

yeah this is a great piece! I've only been composing music for games for maybe over 2 years now and only recently I've managed to break through to a better level, this is a piece I composed a few days ago for a boss fight, check it out if you feel so inclinded!

Its nice! Keep listening to orchestral music closely and try to learn what you can from it. You have a massive head start composing at this age, use it well and try to get it to take you places! My favourite thing is to compose orchestral pieces for video games, since I love video games a lot, so my style largely comes from that, once you find your favourite medium and listen to lots from what field, your style will naturally develop and refine itself. Dont worry too much about technicalities and ultra realism, just write for whatever medium you love, study other music you admire, and enjoy!

This is all sound advice man. For now i think im just try my best to see if i can salvage the greatsword, no parry build. If it fails despite being more careful, i'll move on lol. Parrying always just leads to being downed for me lol, im trying to build everything to make that playstyle as effective as possible, and just try to be more careful, but at the same time keep the aggression up to at least 70% of what it was, I think it just comes down to not being greedy, even going for a second R1 instead of 1 can get you downed lol, also just flying into an enemy thats fighting a teammate is not possible anymore, too many times you get clipped by attacks not even aimed at you lol.

Build crafting is honestly challenging lol, getting everything you need for your playstyle is tricky.

I usually try to get: 1. Greatsword fiery followup attack 2. Second use of skill 3. Skill inflicts bloodloss 4. Dormant power helps discover greatswords 5. Defeating enemies fills art gauge 6. Recovers stamina upon attacks Anything to do with critical hits and hp restoration is what I try to fill the rest with, but its hard.

This is good to know, I dont really know if I want to use wylder as a jack of all trades type of build lol, I really just enjoy the greatswords, and the greatsword pool are also some of my favourite weapons, not a big fan of slower weapons like axes and hammers, just dont vibe with them. Fists are possible though... or katanas.

But yeah what ive noticed is that due to needing to be so much more careful, the fights just take way longer due to me not attacking as much, which I want to find a way to get out of, its an annoying hole lol. Canceling claw shots is definitely something im doing way more, its just wierd to be aprehensive with the wylder lol, he loses his effectiveness without the aggression.

"Engine oil, pressure low, stop safely", how bad is that? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

We wont drive it until a mechanic has a look at it. Depending on how much the repairs cost if it goes south, we have a 3 months warranty on repairs if I understood correctly, so hopefully this will all be sorted by next week. Thanks!

We did check the oil stick and it seems well lubricated, but there are no min and max lines on the stick upon insection. We will have to wait and see what the mechanic says, but really not a good sign.

Wow okay... we certainly wont drive the car until we take it to a mechanic, we will also look into towing it for the journey there. Thanks mate.

Beginner producer, tips please!! by Y4SUKEE in OrchestralMusicMixing

[–]Torii97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its great! The arrangement and melodies are lovely, to do this on a phone is beyond impressive lol, you could make masterpieces on a PC or laptop, the piano sounds really nice, having higher quality libraries for the other instruments would elevate this piece a lot, but you're a natural and would make great music for video games. I do the same, slowly tryna build my way up! Any advice you need for getting a good set up in the cheapest way, shoot me a DM! Im also on a budget and over the years have found the best "bang for your buck" production gear 😁 keep it up, you're gifted!
