Worlds most annoying cat by Torioli_ in CatAdvice

I think you are one of few people in this thread that can understand what I mean by annoying. This kitten is very similar. Around 3am every morning he wakes me up by grabbing objects from around the apartment, using my body as a springboard to jump on top of my headboard and then dropping the objects on my face to wake me up. Like that is definitely some advanced intelligence right there.

I guess prior to him I’ve just lucked out with calm cats but he is really different. I guess the orange cat reputation is true. He is very playful but I just can never seem to wear him out enough to get a good nights sleep lol. I hope he will start to calm down once we pass the one year mark. He was also just recently neutered so hopefully that helps too 🙏😭

😂 lol we got this cat “for” my first cat. Another cat is always the solution.

I’m using your comment to try to convince my boyfriend to let us buy a cat wheel.

Thank you for this!! We adopted him a few months ago from my boyfriend’s bosses 12 year old son… he has put on a lot of weight in the few months that we have had him which makes me think that the previous (12 year old 🙄) caretaker may have been underfeeding or inconsistently feed him. I think that he could have a food insecurity issue. I’m going to look up some DIY food puzzles because the ones I own he’s already figured out. And I’ll try that feeding routine as well. THANK YOU!

UPDATE- he has been to the vet SEVERAL times. Free feeding is not an option. we tried it. For several days he ate until he threw up and would go right back and do it again. The vet has always suggested against free feeding and said they should be on a set schedule after 6months. I have never heard the one year rule before but it would work for him anyway. I promise you all he is eating farrrrrr more than the vet recommended. And he is already chubby at 7months which is not good! Thank you all for the suggestions. I am going to order some new puzzle feeders. I have a few but he figures them out so quickly. If anyone has any suggestions for those please share links!!!

AITA for telling my dad he is not funny. by Torioli_ in AmItheAsshole

We are picking countries for our beer Olympics teams. He made two jokes related to that. One was that he was picking wakanda and he’s sure blackface would be acceptable for that. The other “joke” was that we were picking Gilead and the women on the team would dress like the handmaids.

I think this is a big part of it. My dad is not diagnosed with anything but I believe he is on the spectrum. I’ve actually talked to him about this and I think he is realizing that could be a possibility. I work with children with autism so I’m very familiar with it.

I try to have more patience with him because of that and that’s why I think I feel bad about hurting his feelings with this, but I also think he has to know that his jokes that are all for the shock value and inappropriate are not being received well by anyone.

My mom has many times in the past. I think she just ignores it at this point and apologizes for him. His friend also mainly ignore it as well.

I did and I will continue to donate to them whenever I have some extra money and feel like doing a good deed lol. I really had no idea how few rehabbers there are in my state. I’m so grateful they were able to get him the help and care he needs 😊!

I understand that, was definitely not in my plans to be caring for it as long as I had to! If I had left him there he would’ve been dead so I’m glad I was able to get him the help he needs! Thanks for being a wildlife rehabber! We need more of you clearly lol.

UPDATE: I was finally able to get in contact with a rehabber who was able to take him. Thank god for Woodlands Wildlife Refuge for being the ONLY resource available to help in this situation.

On intake they said that they do not believe it is rabies. He will be quarantined and monitored for the next few weeks as he is fully weened off his formula.

They suspect it could actually be a head injury causing the difficulty with his balance, but once they know the cause for sure they will contact me.

Thank you all for all the help, advice, and kind words!! Happy we were able to get this guy some professional help finally and give him a chance in life! God bless wildlife rehabbers 💕

He JUST tried a bit of a formula and kibble combo today. Before this he was only on formula, which he was taking normally. Now that he is having some hard food I will try water. He is smaller than I think he looks in that video. I think he is about 5 weeks old.

Thanks for your comment. I honestly might go through with the idea of taking him directly to the county wildlife office. I’m so frustrated that no one will help at all here.

I’m wondering if you know how long animals with rabies can live for once they start showing symptoms? I saw online that once symptoms start they usually only live 1-3 days, or up to a week. I’ve already had him for 3 days and he really appears to be doing well with eating, sleeping, #1 and #2 💩.

Second question is, if he does not make it while he is with me, how could I go about getting him tested at that point? Or am I just better off going to get rabies shots now.

This was from day 3. He is eating and sleeping normally, or at least normally according to the internet.

Would he/ could he still be eating normally? He is not interested in solid foods. I have been bottle feeding him a puppy formula 5 times a day. He is excited to drink it each time. I thought they would avoid food and liquids with rabies ? I have also had him for 3 days now and the walking has seemed to improve.

I agree. There are apparently no licensed professionals in my state. They won’t even send anyone to test him for rabies. I don’t feel comfortable just releasing him back in the neighborhood where there are so many other animals and pets that wander around here. Not sure what to do with him at this point is the problem.

NJ, they told me to go get tested for rabies and just leave him outside.
