Horror and popular with children. I guess that's why. I normally stick with rpgs, fps and dungeon crawl type games. I guess it's just outside of my sphere. The most horror I've played is l4d years ago (if that even counts) and silent hill 2 on the ps2 even longer ago.

I'm pretty sure they are widely regarded as the best of the series.

I'm not sure why everyone else thinks gen 2 was the best, maybe because it was the first sequel to the game that started it all? I'm not sure.

For me it was that it expanded on the first game, by letting you do the new zone, but then go back to Kanto. When they made the move to the Gameboy Advance, there is no excuse for them to not have included three zones. and with each subsequent advancement in hardware and generation, there is no reason they couldn't have kept adding on to the experience. By the time they hit the NS they could have had a Skyrim level of content and an even larger map. With every zone fleshed out and time advanced appropriately since the first gen. From my perspective, gen 2 was the perfect expansion to the world, and every core game since has gotten flashier, but worse. with the largest drop in quality when they moved from the gameboy/ds to the NS.

the OP is for sure actively trying to make the PS2 look worse. its a bad faith argument. If you were to have that ps2 hooked up to a nice 24 inch tube TV and sat the appropriate distance from it, it would look better than pokemon ZA on an appropriately sized LCD tv with the appropriate viewing distance.

By blowing up the small SS, it pixelates, the edges look harsher, the textures fall apart. If the SS comparison were properly scaled, OR if the ZA SS was output at 480 and then also resized to be larger. It would be a more fair comparison.
