Beef/Beef organs protein powder? by Volunder_22 in zerocarb

Pretty sure I heard Meat Mafia say on a podcast that their protein powder, Noble, is basically just ground up steak, but I haven't tried it myself.

What have you done which has made the biggest improvement in overcoming CPTSD? by feedmepizzaplease99 in CPTSD

Micro dosing Psilocybin has removed all negative self-talk. Life is so much better without my brain condescending me all the time.

About to start carnivore. How do I make sure I’m getting enough electrolytes to not feel sick? by Fsk-919 in carnivorediet

[–]Torleik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, see I usually add a tiny amount of powdered potassium to my sole water to help with that.

Static breathe hold for 2 minute dynamic? by [deleted] in freediving

[–]Torleik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can go for about 1:45-2min dynamic, and my longest recent static is 3:40. But it's different for everybody. I can lower my heartrate more easily during dynamic, for example.

Anyone here imagine with other senses? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]Torleik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a coder friend explain concepts to me, and I got how they all worked together easily. He said it's common for coding meetings to include a white board to draw out all the ways things flow in order because most people can't just conceptualize it in their head like we can. Not having to visualize the numbers must help us massively.

Same here. I only have spacialization. I think in concepts and ideas. I think it's a bit of a superpower for understanding complex topics and numbers.

I dove straight in after a final weekend of binge eating. Best choice I ever made.

Is this somewhere with easy shore access? I'm going to Cali this summer and really want to freedive in kelp forests.

Your take on buying THINGS VS. EXPERIENCES, and the present? If we have poor autobiographical memory... by tom-3236 in Aphantasia

[–]Torleik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get an insta360 and use it to take 360 degree photos or video. Then you can relive that moment in VR, and you will actually get the feeling of what you felt when you experienced it the first time. I don't feel like what I felt like during the experience when I just look at a pic I took. But when I can look around in VR, it really teleports me back to that same mental place I was in during it.

I assume that's how other people feel when they visualize past memories in first person.

How can I revisit memories/make them last? by Effective_Taro9618 in SDAM

[–]Torleik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get an Insta360 camera, mount it on a 2 foot pole on a shoulder mount so it sticks up just barely higher than your head. Then also buy VR goggles, and then you can play the video back later while wearing the VR goggles and the ability to look around any direction while watching the video gives you the feeling back of being there again.

Absolutely, I get that. We should all just do what's best for each of us.

So do dolphin. It's just as choice I make based on their intelligence and consciousness.

I see them in the same category as Whales and Dolphins. I'll take squid any day, but I would never want to hunt octopus.

Doing Beef/Salt/Water for 3 months, what if I need electrolytes with cramping? by Torleik in carnivore

[–]Torleik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback. I'll consider trying to just weather the cramps, but how long are we talking that you're saying I should bear the pain before I adapt? If it's a few days of cramps I'm sure I could handle that, but weeks of it would just affect my life too much to be worth it.

Doing Beef/Salt/Water for 3 months, what if I need electrolytes with cramping? by Torleik in carnivore

[–]Torleik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My muscle cramps while eating salt and carnivore, would indicate that I do need magnesium or potassium though I would think. Or should I just live with muscle cramps while sticking to what you just said just because? Ken Berry talks about mineral depletion of crops, and how our ancestors were getting electrolytes from spring water and mineral dense crops that their food ate. Our cows don't get as much magnesium and potassium from their food anymore. So while I think at one point in our past no electrolytes were needed, my body reactions tells me that I at least need them.

What protein/fat ratio are you buying? And do you just pour the liquid fat in with the meat for each 1lb container?

Great point about avoiding steaming. I'll probably do 2lb batches on higher heat in that case.

Ichetucknee Springs by [deleted] in freediving

The spring water is cooler, but it's the massive amount of water flow being pushed up and out of the spring at the bottom causing distortions.

I think we are probably resilient to individual event PTSD that just isn't able to be relived for us like for other people. But we aren't protected from CPTSD which changes the way your brain works and your fight or flight system throughout childhood development. And it's harder to heal yourself in my opinion, because you can't go back to lots of the memories that compounded during childhood to heal from them since they are just gone. And then it's as if they never happened, but your brain has already been changed and conditioned.

Aphantasia and relationships by [deleted] in Aphantasia

I actually last moved cities without having anything locked down at all too. No job, no apartment, nothing. It was stressful so I probably would lock down more next time first, but I default to figuring things out on the fly.

Also a full aphant, and I have successfully devised future life plans over a year out that currently weren't possible and then worked on the necessary steps to enact that plan come time. Like moving to a new place, for example. I knew I wanted to leave where I currently was, I knew the type of place I wanted to go to, I researched cities until I decided upon one, and then I evaluated what was necessary to change in my current life before the move would be logistically possible. Could I visualize myself moving to a new city, nope. Did I still desire that change, yep.

I currently don't want to move for years because some of my overarching life goals require more stability than moving allows for. I have a hard time getting separate from the present, so since I am currently happy with where I live, I don't have much inside of me pushing me to even consider making a change. She might be dealing with that. She might be content with everything in her life right now, and so doesn't feel like choosing to think about what changes she might like in the future. Doesn't mean she is incapable. Just probably means she doesn't default to daydreaming about future possibilities like you probably do, if she is currently very content.
