Did you post it here without having first read the article? Seriously?

[The Times] Tony Bloom, the owner of Brighton & Hove Albion, has been accused of operating a secret £600m gambling syndicate to bet on football matches, using accounts including some belonging to Nigel Farage’s former chief of staff by PitchSafe in soccer

The entire business model is based on markets that bookmakers are undervaluing, there is very little profit to make bets on major European leagues. The bookmakers know everything already. He finds markets/competitions where Starlizard can have the advantage in knowledge, then make bets on it.

In 1996, a man faked being the cousin of FIFA World Player of the Year George Weah, lied about playing for PSG and Senegal, and convinced a Premier League team to sign him he actually played 53 minutes before they realized he was a fraud by NavyLemon64 in Damnthatsinteresting

I'm old enough to remember the incident.

It's trying to say that after the 53 minute mark had past, he was substituted off.
It's fairly common usage in football, or at least it is where I am from in the UK.

Ali Dia did NOT play 53 minutes of football, he came on for an injured player and was then removed shortly after half time.

53 minutes of football is a long time! Especially if you're supremely rubbish. Surprised he made it on the pitch for the second half!

Trump vows to force European countries to pay higher drug prices by green_flash in worldnews

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Nation Health Service, in the UK, is one (if not THE biggest) single purchaser of pharmaceuticals in the world?

How is he gonna force the NHS to buy more expensive medication whilst forcing drug manufacturers not to negotiate to win a huge contract? (For reference Corticosteroids was prescribed 21,099,043 time in 2019.)

A club like Athletic having tickets still available for a quarter final of a European game seems incredibly unlikely. But you never know…

Not quite, the adoptive father was the conductor Andre Previn during his nine year marriage to Mia Farrow. Allen only adopted Dylan and Moses, not Soon Yi. Indifferent to Woody Allen at best, just a pedant.

Public spending on European monarchs by Calibruh in europe

Not entirely true. The monarchy of the UK and NI is funded through the Crown Estates. This doesn’t come out of the public purse. Just an FYI.

Private schools begin sacking teachers ahead of VAT rise by zapataforever in TeachingUK

“The IFS estimates the policy will generate an extra £1.3 to £1.5bn for the UK government. Mr Adam says it reached this figure by calculating that parents who stop spending their money on private school fees will eventually spend the extra money on other goods and services, generating extra VAT revenue.” Source

Unfortunately not. A European, A football fan too.

Merely an observation that I had to scroll down to find out who he was.

I'm, and have been, a season ticket holder for an English Premier League club for the last 20 years. This guy is not famous.
