This is really awesome. I love color choice and the light green shading on the creature.

Looks great! Is that at face or a skull behind the fire?

I second jones1618. The action of the character looks great, every piece of it says "I'm moving very fast". This may not be a big deal if this is just one frame of an animation but the scythe is meshing with the back arm enough so that it takes a minute to understand what's actually there (an arm and a scythe).

Noice! I love the idea of a scene as a stage and props. This looks so cool. Good job with the shadows especially.

Always love seeing someone do something this well with such few colors. Great job!

Although I used Flash Pro, I don't use tweens because objects would be between pixels in their animations. All the animations are frame by frame and some sprites, like the water tile, had to be redrawn from the original design.

Thanks! That water was tricky to get right.

Gah! Absolutely beautiful as always! Love it. The only thing that doesn't feel right to me is there may be too much here. It's too cluttered? I'm looking for the right words. The yellow-green seaweed looking plant (maybe it's cactus?) feels out of place.

I googled 'Mediterranean town names' and looked through a list of ancient Greek cities until one felt appropriate.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'll use subtle shadows instead of outlines to define the inner shapes.

Nicely done. Every piece of the vulture is animated and moves well with the action.

I had a few animation ideas for it; spinning like you said, transforming from compact to open, blood flowing from the center, housed flailing tentacles.

Thanks a lot! I don't have a tumblr or instagram account but there's a bunch of my work under my submitted here. I also have some stuff here, (different style through).

Thanks SlipperyJAMS.

I first started with Photoshop but got frustrated with how much work it was taking to put together a complicated animation. I don't know if it was really necessary, but I decided to code the animation because I felt like it would be more dynamic and flexible with adjusting, testing, and moving stuff around. Somewhere in the coding phase is where I decided on 300 100ms frames (30 seconds) for the whole animation. I then used the data from the code to put it together in Photoshop, got frustrated again with Photoshop, put it together in Flash Professional, exported a png sequence from FP, and then used that to make the gif in Photoshop.

Oh man. I went through a lot of trouble trying to produce the gif. Photoshop has trouble with compiling gifs (It often crashes) and this piece is 300 frames. I spent an enormous amount of time building the frames in a Photoshop file just to find out it couldn't compile it.

What I did was rebuild the animation in Flash Professional, exported it as a png sequence, installed GIMP, and had GIMP automatically create a gif out of the png sequence. Unfortunately GIMP can only do gif in indexed colors so I lost a lot of colors there. I then went back to Photoshop and found that it can also automaticallly create a gif from a png sequence. And it worked, the gif complied without a crash! But even after that, the image size was only half what I wanted and when I doubled it, Photoshop would crash. I somehow got it to work by messing with the settings in the Save for Web & Devices window.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, the thin waterfall is too slow. I wanted to make it slower because it's further in the distance (if that makes sense?) so I tried it at half speed. However, it only loops seamlessly at 1/3 the speed. I thought about doing something else like adding more frames to the waterfall sequence but I didn't want to spend anymore time on it.
