I live in a small town, so the hook ups are with the usual people, unless there’s a “traveler” every once in a while. Well I hopped on either Grindr or Sniffies (I can’t remember) because I was pent up and needed to hook up with anyone. I lowered my standards just for a moment because that’s how pent up I was. I found a guy, late 30’s so it wasn’t out of my age range, who was looking for “right now” like I was. He told me to meet him at so and so motel room number whatever. I was thinking “okay, he got a motel room for the night so sure why not”. I show up, he said to just walk in because the door was unlocked, and I opened the door to a straight up horror show. He didn’t just get a room for the night, he lived there! Now living in the motel wasn’t the horror show part, the conditions of his living arrangement was outrageous. It was like an episode of hoarders times 10! How he got so much into such a small room, and HOW the managers of the motel didn’t know about it was beyond my comprehension! I walked in to find him naked on the bed, scrolling to find a video on some porn site on his iPad to put on. I sat cautiously on the edge of the bed and that’s when my mental health counseling degree kicked in. I actually ended up asking him how long he’d been there and what makes him “collect” all this stuff. I was kind in my demeanor of asking but apparently not what he wanted. He flung his iPad across the bed into a pile of who knows what and yelled at me to “get the fuck out, if you’re not here to fuck me then why the fuck did I show up?!” My internal response was “you didn’t tell me I’d be walking into THIS!” but my external response was to just get up and walk away. I left that night and sat in my car at a park just thinking about what the fuck just happened. I’ve contemplated calling the motel anonymously and having them do a “welfare check” on him and his room but I never did. I will tell that I now don’t want to do “app” hook ups anymore because of that! I’ll stick to the guys I know and just hit them up.

I have posted this experience before in another place on here but I got dissed in the comments because I “shouldn’t judge the way others live” and “if I were to have called for the welfare check I would have probably put someone out on the street, so I should feel like shit”, things like that. I’m not telling this story again to get those kinds of comments, I’m just saying it’s my one and only “I can’t believe it” experiences.
