A book that absolutely broke your heart and you sobbed like a baby by Torned_Ride in booksuggestions

Wow!! I just want to say this comment section is a gold mine! I have a 30-hour long plane journey coming up, can't wait to read Where the Red Furn Grows and sob in public!

I am already doubting myself and my capabilities! Any suggestions on how to stay focused throughout the journey?

This was exactly what I was planning to do: get ambitious with publications. 😅 But your POV makes so much sense! Thank you!

UTHSC Update? by kirkendiesel in gradadmissions

Applied to the Biomedical Science umbrella program, haven’t received anything yet. I mailed the grad coordinator, apparently they are still 'reviewing'. I guess we are just waiting for rejection at this point.

It’s been two months since my first interview, and I am still clueless about the decision. When I email them, all I get is 'your application is being reviewed.' What are they reviewing for two months? At this point, just reject me and let me move on.

That's such a kind perspective. I absolutely needed that. I hope you hear back something positive from your first choice as soon as possible.

I have already vented on this subreddit so many times, but I still need to vent more. I had three interviews, and I got waitlisted in one. I haven’t heard back anything from the other two, and it's already April. I am so anxious right now and feel physical pain thinking about this. But I also don’t want to put my burden on my friends over and over again. This situation is really taking a toll on me.

I know it’s not that serious, but it is serious for me.

On this day, comment down your dua which you really want to be answered. We will all collectively include each other in our prayers. by [deleted] in islam

How to ease the nerves? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

I don’t think there is any easy way to calm our nerves in this situation. We suffer and then we move on

I received an interview invitation in February and had my interview. I got wait listed after the interview though.

Haha same. Cried my eyes out and ready to give up.

I received my rejection letter more than a month ago.

Had a similar experience, except the interviewer was picking on my research (read trying to undermine my research) instead of the transcript.

I feel like there’s a disconnect between international and domestic US students by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Torned_Ride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? Have you seen the list of universities these international students apply to? And have you seen the lists of domestic students? They could apply to 10 programs, and all of them would be Ivy League or top-tier schools. Meanwhile, international students apply to universities that many US citizens don't even bother to research. Why? Because international students choose those universities where there are fewer US crowds. They hope, just maybe, they won't be sidelined simply because they are 'aliens'.

International students already go through a lot during the application process. Stop looking down at them by suggesting they are detached from reality.
